Best battery tender?

Since I sometimes don't drive my car for a week or two at a time I wanted to pickup a battery tender. Are they all about the same, or is one better than the rest?

I've never used these before but obviously you need to leave your window slightly open in order to plug the tender into the cigarette lighter, and have the cable dangling out of the car. Anyone rig up a plug/connection for the tender under the edge of the car somewhere to make it more convenient to use? If it just plugs right into the cigarette lighter I assume you could just put a plug/connector almost anywhere - it's just power and ground right?

You can add a tender next to your battery and have a connection under the front hood. When you need to store it, just plug the connection into a line that hooks up to an outlet.

Otherwise, you can get a cig lighter one.

Personally, I prefer under the front hood so you don't have line dangling around to the middle of the garage.

I have the trickle charge that plugs into the cigarette lighter - works great. Had it for almost 4 years and works like a charm

I've got the Porsche one that plugs into the cigarette lighter. Just plug it in, slam the door and forget it. No need to leave the window open, the cord is really thin.

i use the porsche one. works great. i keep my window up and and just shut the door over the cable. it's really thin.

i use the "battery tender" brand on my motorcycle. works well. didn't bother with that one on the car on the car though. don't like the idea of having to pop the hood to charge the battery. not to mention the BT cable is a little thicker so I'm not sure you could shut the hood with the cable in there. that could be a problem since the trunk light would remain on.
