I think this is more rampant at the cheap dealers. AKA Dodge, and Chevy. I went into a high end Jewlery store in St.Maarten and this guy immeditly runs over to me as I was looking at their Franck Muller stand, and says ahh yes Franck Muller "best watches in the world", I laughed at him and left.

Im not going to talk **** because I know they can be fun cars and tuned to be really really fun/fast but 8:13 cant even pretend to be close to the GT2s 7:46
Euro Vipers have 50+ less hp than the US car. Panorama did a test of the GT2 at Road Atlanta with David Murry driving. He did a 1:38.xx. Back when the Vipers ran a stock class allowing only upgraded brake pads, stock GTS's ran 1:36.xx with amateur drivers. They are very fast cars.

Wow, i thought i was theonly one with silly experiences at Dodge Dealers. On 2 occasions ive gotten a hair up my *** to buy a Viper, and each time i left the dealer disgusted. One time i remember an idiot salesperson arguing with me that a Viper will do 0-100mph in 4 sec.

Also as far a stupid people, i cant tell you how many times ive had people see my Diablo, and be like " Omg, thats my favorite car in the world" Ive loved the Countach since i was a kid!"

I hate this attitude. What are you going to do when you run across a viper on the street? Ask him to ship the car to Germany along with yours for a romp on the nurburgring to see who comes out ahead?

He is right, RING TIMES DON'T MEAN **** ON THE STREET, regardless if you agree or disagree with racing on the street or highway. I'm sure you have never broken a speed limit in your life, why would you, it would make your argument look stupid.

The fact is, porsche's are tuned on the ring and not all cars are. That track is porsches home turf basically. Bottom line is, there are certain tracks that a viper will be more at home at and a porsche will need different gears or perhaps a shift in the powerband in order to be competitive on.

I doubt you could push either car to the max anyway. You will never turn a 7:4x in a GT2 on the ring, period.

Don't underestimate the Viper.... Stock for stock it'll give the GT2 a run for its money.. Trust me, I've driven them both.....

Ummmm......I think the Viper is an awesome car. I've never had on the track, but I remember how soft my stock TT was at The Glen before PSS9s. With a few mods, both the TT and the Viper are awesome cars. Hell, I'll go out on a limb....with a few mods, the C6 is probably an awesome car as well!

I agree, it gets kind of annoying when you get non-enthusiasts talking *hit while standing next to their bone-stock car.

But, for you guys who have $40k in upgrades to a $130k (TT) or $190k (GT2) car, there is something called modesty and dignity. Why not just post your HP on your license plate to scare unsuspecting neophytes off who might otherwise talk trash?

I'm hearing about 800 hp from some of you guys.

Cause HP doesn't mean everything. Here is a video of a 1998 Viper GTS (484rwhp 543rwtq, headers, exhaust, intake, tuned) vs a 750+rwhp 2003 Mustang Cobra (convertible, KB 2.4 blower, 21lbs of boost, intake, exhaust, injectors, heat exchanger, tb, etc..)
The video is dark (night time) and taken from the viper. Cobra gets about 1 car from 50-150. If we would have stayed in it longer, the viper would have pulled back in 5th gear..........

I raced Mike Modano in his GT2 when they first came out. I was in my bone stock '99 ACR, and I pulled him pretty well on the highway. It had 45hp less than the SRT-10. I speak from experience. My turbo is a MUCH more refined car, and it's more fun to drive, but Vipers are very fast, and they do handle really well. It's just much harder to drive one at it's limits than a Porsche.
