painted front intake slats on 2004 coupe
According to GreggT, owner of this car:
-Remove whole front bumper (half hour job at most)
-All 3 louvered grills come out the back
-Bodyshop needs to have patience & skill (more on the former)
-Urathane based paint as w/ any of ABS
-What is painted there is any horizontal fin (in it's entirety) but nothing more
-Requires a fair amount of taping and some additional patience........good luck.

Sentipede: the front bumper on GreggT's car is beautiful; I wish mine will look like that. What front spoiler is on that car? I've never seen a lip like that before.
amazing how much cooler the stock C4S lip looks painted to match exterior color; I think it looks much nicer than the Turbo Aerokit lip, Techart, and all the rest!
If you look carefully at the grille inserts it would be difficult to paint only the horizontal "fins" w/o the upper left portion. I was going to do it like the 04 ME, but decided instead to use powder coated AS mesh color. I did have the lower front lip painted as well so you can see the effect. The side-skirts are 2002 factory and the rear is a factory TT. BTW, I believe the open "slots" in the lower lip are there for some aerodynamic effect, but probably only at track speeds.

The two slots of the Turbo front spoiler help direct air towards the brake ducts.
Where is a good place to buy the mesh? $1100~1600 for the pre-cut framed mesh is rediculous. The actual material can't cost more than $30~60.

There are many different types of meshes. Wire types (Benz SL-class), hole-vents (Ferrari), crossing slates (Bently), etc... big difference between that and chicken wire from hardware store. And it should have some structural rigidity to it to hold shape.
Still, when I did a custom mesh for my 700HP Supra, I found it at, of all places, Home Depot. The body shop molded it into my Bomex kit, clear-coated it, and it looked perfect.
I was wondering if anyone knew of places that specialized in various types of grilles/meshes.
Here's an example of the mesh that was on my Supra.
The grille immediately ahead of the hood was the one from Home Depot. The bottom grille is pretty rigid to protect the expensive intercooler. I had a custom kevlar fiber pan made for the underbelly of the bomex bumper clip to make it very robust and also to smooth out airflow.
