it dont looks realy critical to me.....check your filter 1000 miles later and if you dont find the same situation you could be lucky

I pulled the filter out after 150 miles no sign of any shavings I'll pull it out again at 1000 and buy new filter see what's up maybe I'm over reacting

What happens is small bits of aluminium break away from the engine and pass thru the oil pump gears - which crushes them into slivers. The larger the sliver the larger the piece of aluminium was.. The aluminium is possibly breaking away from the case at the intermediate shaft. If you have more than 5 pieces of aluminium you should be using Mobil1 5W40 Synthetic Turbo Diesel oil. After putting this oil in - change your filter after 1000 miles and open and check for aluminium particles.

An oil analysis... $35. A couple of oil filters.... $20 a piece. Piece of mind... priceless.

Update: after 1500+ miles - ripped the filter apart, NO Shavings, not 1. nothing I'm happy!!!!
