I recently tore the leather on my center console. I planned to redo all the dash and center console leather, so this gave me the opportunity to start the transformation.
I have always hated the leather on our dash and center console for a few reasons.
1. The leather has a very fragile top coat. Anything and everything will leave a mark if you even slightly scrape the leather.
2. The leather is very thin and looks very plain.
3. The Leather has actually been installed over top of the stock vinyl. Given the different expansion rates of the leather versus the vinyl, they tend to separate over time.
I'm sure I will need to have the dash done custom, but I figured I might be able to find something for the center console. I found this part on that four letter word. It is automotive grade leather and installed pretty easily.
FYI it was only the leather, I had to install it on the stock center console pad.
It's a small part, but now it really makes me want to get my dash done.
probably due to the large amount of work needed to get it out and back in just to change the material. if you had to do something that rerq. taking it out then its a great time to customize the dash

Since when has time (or even money for that matter) stopped us from doing something to our cars.
Its just my opinion as I think the dash at least in mine looks very nice as is. I've taken out a few dashes and things can tend to break or not go back as well as original and I'm very particular. I'm sure if you decide to do the job it will look great.

i don't think time nor money has anything to do with this. I'm the last to speak of spending money after a 20k$ driveline build! my point was taken from the perspective of doing most of the labor myself and dash disassembly isn't for the faint. things get brittle over time, break and rattles appear out of nowhere. its a do if you have to type of mod but not a just because i want to type. again just my .02
It looks great. Did you just glue it over the old leather or did you strip it down and put in new foam layer? What did you do about the small trim piece behind. I have been thinking of buying two of these on e bay and cutting up the second to get it to fit on the small trim piece.

I peeled off the the stock leather and the stock vinyl underneath. I left the stock padding (which is very thin). Be careful not to peel/damage the stock padding, as an imperfection in the padding will show in your finished leather. After this I market the underside of the leather and arm rest, to make sure I got everything aligned.
FYI this leather is much thicker than the stock leather, so I don't think you will get the inside cover to fit correctly if you don't remove the old leather and vinyl pieces.
I'm going to buy another piece to cut and re-cover the the small section behind the arm rest. Since it is free shipping, I thought I would buy the first piece and make sure I liked it, before I did the second piece.
