Like Markski said- my immediate plans are to DO A BOOST LEAK TEST- plugs, coils, remap and just enjoy crusing for awhile! Cant wait to get your flash on this car Mark, im sure we will have it running strong.
Doesn't need to be a tracked car to have it happen - ask me how I know. Just keep a close eye and if you see any fitting moving, get it done.

Much appreciated- I'll definitely keep a close eye on it- I'm all about being preventative vs reactive on these cars.

It's nothing you can really keep an eye on. Slow leaks are rare. The fitting normally blows out without warning..

I just had my fittings pinned and the labor charge is around 8 hours.
The engine does not need to be taken out but to my knowledge there is one fitting that can't be pinned with the engine in.

The DIY looks pretty straightforward but I just had it done at the local shop with my coilovers.

+1 Might get rid of the K&N and go with the BMC better quality filter in my mind.

Madwhip and Markski- I will definitely be doing a boost leak test prior to any tuning! Madwhip how many miles do you have on your car? It looks great from your sig. picture.
41k miles. Its an 03

So was I.
I replaced....
All three front radiators and associated plumbing
Expansion tank
Expansion tank cap
EVERY coolant hose that was accessible without pulling the engine

BINGO!
Blew on the "street", not the track, without warning.
I was really bummed out. That was before the tow truck company wrecked my car during the loading process.
So, yeah....to all those that are putting off the coolant fitting repair on your Metzger engined 911 (I was one)....please keep in mind, when just one of the 8 faulty lines gives way...you never know exactly what it may lead to.

Sounds familiar, Dude...

Having the "benefit" of experience with this issue, it's tough to imagine an owner not welding or pinning the coolant fittings during the next major service, upgrade, or pretty much anything involving dropping the motor.

Yup, I believe this. But still, it'd be less expensive to have it done on your own terms and your own schedule instead of letting fate and the car make those choices for you. I wasn't so lucky, and it ruined my schedule by happening before I could get started on my mods, and eating a lot of the planned budget.

But the peace of mind knowing it's done is very comforting.

Can you describe or point me to the boost leak check procedure?

Horsepower to the wheels has nothing to do with it.... GT3s are barely putting down 400 to the wheels and it's quite frequent for them. It seems that a higher incidence is on cars that are tracked and subjected to high temp / high stress sustained operation.

That DIY is specific to the 997gt3. It's much harder to access on the 6tt. You can only get to 3 fittings with the engine in the car. There are 8.
