PSM, ABS, But No CEL's???
Out driving my car this morning, and it just cut out a couple of times then died. PSM and ABS lights were on, but no CEL. I turned the key off and back on and it started up. This happened several times and it restarted every time. Well I was headed home, and it just died and wouldn't restart. Called Porsche, and got a tow truck on the way, and while I was waiting I tried to start it again and it worked. It died a couple more times on the way home, but I got it here. I just hooked my scanner up and it said there were no codes at all. Could this be a MAF, or would I also have CEL's?

I would agree, I bet its the MAF.
|
Even without a CEL? I thought for sure it would throw a code, but I'd love to be wrong.

possibly fuel pump...have fuel line clamps checked.
|
Doubt it is the MAF that caused it!

It would be nice if you could scan for a code the next time the light comes on - before you turn off the key. There is a tech bulletin on fuel pump hoses coming loose in the gas tank. Could also be something simple like a clogged fuel filter. Since many gas stations in DFW ran low on gas you might have gotten some crud from the bottom of a gas station's tank. Did you buy gas since last Thursday?

Chipped or not?
|
I did buy gas, and it is chipped. If it had a code, the CEL would be on, correct? Wouldn't have also been saved in the memory?
|
did you fix the problem? and if so what was it?
Thanks |
it was MAF problem, mine have the same PSM and ABS light before. Replace new MAF will fix the problem

I would bet there is a pending code and it is not the MAF. Go have the pendings pulled by a PST2 and see what they say. I suspect something other than MAF here.

I believe Big Carrot has the Upsolute programing and has problems with cold weather. Stephen I know you worked on a few of these programed cars. What`s up? Is it related to Upsolute?

so if the car runs smooth on the safty mode then there shouldn't be a major problem right? and MAF could be failed. |
