Movin on up............(hopefully)
I'm certainly not arguing with you. My car is super clean, well sorted, and has no issues AT ALL. I think my price is pretty fair for an awesome car that you can buy and drive back to Arizona if you wanted! But I can wait. It's paid for and I've got nothing but time...............
meh, I say keep it.
You'll sell it for nothing, then wind up with the exactly same thing.
Sure the 997 is a different, but not that much so. Oh well, just my $.02.
I say keep the tt AND get something else completely different.

Boy does ttpopo have it right I use to trade cars at least once a year and found out that variety is what worked= more then one car. The next 911 while newer will get to be old hat and you will lose money on your already sorted and very nice car=keep it and buy another toy. I'm considering a e46 M3 myself.

just sold my 77 911 thinking of getting a 944 or 928?? but Never selling my 996TURBO
that said good luck with the sale prices are heading up IMHO,,,
The variety is key. As much as I love the new Maser, there's simply some things that the tt does that the maser will never do - and vice versa. Totally different animals. Sure the tt is way faster and handles "on rails", but the maser has an insane sound and is way more entertaining to drive (oversteer). Additionally, the maser has a way of drawing smiles out of everyone from toothless bums, aspiring kids to soccer moms. The 911 is completely invisible.
The point is that both cars complement sac other and push different "buttons".
I thought about a 991tt or 997tt for about 1/2 sec. Then I realized what I could realistically get for my 2001tt w/ 80k miles ($38k) and saw the near 200k asking price of a new 991tt and it was an easy decision.
Why give away a car that will last another 20+ years and offer something completely distinct and dare I say "unique". In a time of automatic everything, the 996tt is an amazingly raw, fast and high performance package.
Yeah, just get another car that has all the automatic niceties and the then you'll REALLY appreciate your tt more.

I will most likely get a 997TT in a year or so, depending on what I can realistically get for my car at the time the 997TT will either be in addition to the 996TT or replace it (which will undoubtedly push that timeline around one way or another).
996TT are tremendous cars that are worth a lot more than they go for IMO.

For me, it's the fact that some people hate my car for the "fried egg" headllights..which I don't see..lol I think that a shiny black wide body 996tt looks awesome with the headlight design. Takes the VW Beetle look away..lol I just wish the tail light LED conversion would come to market! I will keep the 996tt, get my Tip rebuilt and if she finally stops giving me troubles do a full blown interior upgrade! If not, I will be looking for a 2009 997tt!

re: the fried eggs - i personally think they suck, so yeah just paint em!
Love the headlights and think the interior is much better then the 997tt. Its a 14 year old car I believe you either embrace that or buy a newer car. I just wish my car had cloth interior and less options like sunroof etc =a/c is the only one I need. I would not want to drive it everyday and yes I know many do lol. If I get another modern 911 it will be a GT3 or in the other direction 993 the 997 is a lateral move in my opinion.
