The 996TT Conundrum!
Each time I replaced car I thought it be my last. Fixing. Maintaining it. I think this time I'm sure I'm keeping it. No more sports cars for me. I'm done. We own a piece of history.
Truth is I live in S. Florida and it has killed my enthusiasm for cars and other activities. I used to race cars, camp, snowboard, raced DH mtn bikes, etc. but down here you are limited. I tried club racing here but it blows and there are really only 2 tracks worth going to within a reasonable driving distance which gets old fast. The heat is just oppressive.
I do road and mountain bike a lot (don't say there are no mountains in Florida!) but, again, it's the same rides over and over but I still remain committed. .
Having a fun street car is not enjoyable here as there are zero enjoyable roads and no destinations to go to where the scenery, roads, people, food, or anything is worth it. I mean driving on the highway at 90mph in a dead straight line is just not fun!
My cars are currently an Audi Allroad as my DD, my 996TT and I have a 1986 930.
The better question is how the hell did I end up here and how the hell do I get out! So maybe it's not my 996TT. It's Florida!

These canyons are awesome riding my GSXR or even my DR650 Dual purpose. Fun on a mountain bike too. The rock climbing and hiking is endless here as well.
So, to me even a Bugatti would suck if I have no place to enjoy it. Maybe you should sell the 996TT and get a sailboat and a bunch of fishing gear?
Adam Corolla made a funny statement about daily driving a new 991 911 Turbo. Daily driving a car like that is like marrying Cindy Crawford. After 3 months, you're no longer married to "THE" Cindy Crawford. The same applies to any vehicle. Daily driving it as a means of transportation versus solely entertainment quickly saps the excitement out of that particular vehicle. I also couldn't agree more with the hobby comments.
I use my F350 on a daily basis for work and love it to death for what it does. The good thing about it is that it makes me appreciate my 996tt even more and makes me want to just take it out and flog it any chance I get. That said, I would have fun every single day even if it were my daily driver.
Yes, the key is to have more than one vehicle. The GT3 is the only other car I would consider over the 996tt because it is so much fun to drive on the street and the track.

I am in Florida and I agree...straight roads and no fun. I think you should purchase something radically different like a wrangler and appreciate the outdoors, leave the turbo in the garage and take it out once in awhile. I believe all you need is a new perspective.
Keep the 996TT to drive the kids around and get a '06 or better Gallardo for thrills. Or a crotch rocket it's cheaper, but you more than likely will become an organ donor.
On the cheap way to whooo you, you could permanently disable the PSM, with the mods you have if you drive with any spirit it should give you some new thrills...
Keep having fun!
I have no more room. My 930 occupies the other garage spot and my stupid driveway is in a shape that I have to move my Audi to the street if I want to take it out. Plus, while I love exotics a lot, living in S. Florida I just could never own one. I see every high end exotic on the market every day driven by either women, old people or, shall we say, people I would rather not associate with. Same with Porsche's but at least I never see 930's and my 996TT is rare as it is not the latest and greatest model. As I said, Florida!
i go through this all the time, I bought the car and loved it at first, but after 6 months i want more power. I drive my truck most of the time now and its helped.
One thing you could do is the GT2 conversion, drop the front axles. Dont even have to remove the Diff if you dont want to. That'd make it feel different at least.
