The 996TT Conundrum!
The 996TT Conundrum!
I am a little bored of my 996TT. Wish the interior wasn't so dated, wish it had a better stereo (I have an aftermarket one), and I wish it was a bit harder edged like a GT2 or GT3 (I have KW V3 suspension, chip, exhaust but still the AWD and nannies...). I have 2 little kids so need the rear seats and am not going to add rears to a GT2 or GT3 due to obvious reasons.
But there is nothing else to buy! I like the 997TT but I am paying double the price for not double the car. Still may do this transaction but very annoying. I will NOT buy an automatic car (call me old fashioned but ain't happening) so what are my options? Needing 4 seats there is nothing else that compares. No muscle car, no BMW, no Audi, NOTHING!
This is quite the conundrum!

That's one nice thing about being older I like the interior and actually like the older 911s better= also the newer have way to many gadgets that I wouldn't use. I have purposely removed radios in my older sports cars. I'm sure you have thought of the M3 and there are quite a few great choices Mercedes Audi etc .
Seriously, if your bored with your TT, you'll most likely be bored with anything. The problem is not with the car, I guarantee it! Some are bored with their $5 mil homes and $4 mil airplanes and yachts.
Sadly, some people are never satisfied with the status quo. This may be good in business or pushing yourself, but maybe not so good as far as possessions.
What is your DD? Maybe you need to find some highly rewarding hobbies or activities that you find fulfilling for your personal satisfaction.
I hike a lot and climb mountains, do photography, I ride fast motorcycles and have tons of hobbies. I drive my Turbo a couple of times a week. My DD is a Subaru Crosstrek that I love and is my go to desert and mountain vehicle. When I take my Turbo out for a run in the canyon twisties, it amazes me even after owning it over 3 years.
Most people I know would love a 996TT, including most of my neighbors that drive Mercs or BMWs.

Well put Nick49 and so true I realized years ago that the new wears off in about 6 months especially when I was younger and doing car payments. The trick is to have other cars and use the 996tt for pleasure and yes I know most disagree lol.

Truth is I live in S. Florida and it has killed my enthusiasm for cars and other activities. I used to race cars, camp, snowboard, raced DH mtn bikes, etc. but down here you are limited. I tried club racing here but it blows and there are really only 2 tracks worth going to within a reasonable driving distance which gets old fast. The heat is just oppressive.
I do road and mountain bike a lot (don't say there are no mountains in Florida!) but, again, it's the same rides over and over but I still remain committed. .
Having a fun street car is not enjoyable here as there are zero enjoyable roads and no destinations to go to where the scenery, roads, people, food, or anything is worth it. I mean driving on the highway at 90mph in a dead straight line is just not fun!
My cars are currently an Audi Allroad as my DD, my 996TT and I have a 1986 930.
The better question is how the hell did I end up here and how the hell do I get out! So maybe it's not my 996TT. It's Florida!

How about a Maseratti Gran Turismo or a CLK AMG black series?
There are plenty of ways to make your 996TT harder edge. Go RWD, upgrade turbos, motor mounts, transmission mounts, light weigh flywheel, get rid of all the rubber in the suspension. I can think of a lot of ways.

Must be 3 pedals. I may try to upgrade my car a little more with a double din as my stereo is worse than my 1983 RX7's that I took to college! I just don't want to go too overboard as I will be tossing money out the window and will never get a dollar back.
I nearly bought a CTS-V wagon instead of my Allroad and 996TT but the trunk was too small. Very disappointing.
Only other option is a 997TT which is still a possibility. I tried getting Champion Porsche to install rear seats in a GT2 or GT3 but they said no due to liability issues. Same for my other speed shop.
