The third gear clutch packs simply wear out around 550whp/TQ. I changed the TC to a 3000rpm stall. It helped build a slight bit more boost during a launch but it hurt my highway performance. The tranny overheated and wouldn't shift after it got too hot.

So did the tranny overheat due to the TC stall speed change? I am in the process of having my trans rebuilt/improved due to the same thing that when hot it wouldn't shift. They also are reworking the torque converter. The company claims that the new build will handle 1000hp and I'm only running k16/16g and a 1.3 BAR tune, so I am only making around 500whp. With all your experience do you think this is the route to go? The TCU had previous been tuned with EVOMsIT. Thanks for sharing your wisdom.

You will be good to go at that HP/TQ level! The torque is what's kills them! I've got 30k miles on mine with 605 tq at the crank and never had an issue! My torque converter was done by GMG and has worked great! Just depends on what you want to use the car for! If I did it again I would probably not mess with the stall speed!

Just curious what you guys are paying for these rebuilds? If mine ever does let go I will also have it upgraded!
Not really because of the stall, but because the tranny isn't properly cooled for the amount of stress I was putting it through. I kicked around the idea and expense of adding an aftermarket cooler. It's hard to hear but in this vid you can hear how slow each shift is at this point. This was when the car made about 600rwhp. With a Softronic tune, I made 600whp at 1.4bar on MS109 with 16/16g's with the Evoms TCU flash and that's what my set up was in this vid.

So you hadn't built it up at this point - just the flash. The company building mine said I wouldn't need any more cooling unless I pushed it beyond 1000hp and in staying with the 550-600 I have now. Does that make sense based on your experiences?

I had rebuilt the tranny at this point but only to stock specs. I don't know what your rebuild can handle, but the stock tranny couldn't handle 16/16's at 1.4 bar for very long.

Yes, converted to RWD. NOT RECOMMENDED on a tip car. The car breaks loose and tries to kill you.

They claim 1000hp capable. More than just a factory disc rebuild so fingers crossed. Advice taken. I will not be converting to rwd. Thanks for you wisdom.
Nice, What's the cost for this? Looks like they are doing it right!
How close is the nag 1 to the turbo tiptronic? I know I've seen others get stuck trying to find some special gaskets and such. Looks like a thorough job.
I too have been on this for a while. The place I listed above says they can handle 1000 hp after there upgrade. I do not know what torque That is at. The 722.6 nag1 is in many chrisler cars and they ruteenly upgrade for drag and hotrods. They only do upgrades and then run on a dino. The price is reasonable. I have my 2 spairs going to them . And should be back on line in the spring.
