kwoodwo is infamous around these parts
Houston guys

I just purchased a 996 turbo and want to do the 30k maintenance. Is there anyone around that wants to show me the ropes? I am not familiar enough yet with the engine to where I feel comfortable changing out the spark plugs.

I found a good indy shop that sounds like they do good work but would prefer to learn how to do it myself. Beer and (and money if needed) would be provided.

Thanks in advance,

Kevin

For PM's, check out ECStuning.com. They sell both the parts and provide great write ups, and they are a sponsor here. As for a shop in a houston. Since Drivers Source has decided to focus on restorations, I recommend Akram Haus. He can be reached at akram@akramhaus.com. 3210 Bingle, suite 400, 77055. He installed my clutch, injectors, plugs, coils, secondary pump and other bolt-ons as well does my service. Great guy and knowledgeable.

Welcome to the beginning of speed.

I recommend Will Kitchens. He builds and restores Porsche. If you need his personal number send a pm.
Good luck,
Robert

I know a lot of guys that recommend doing what you can on your own. Depending on your desire to try things and how much you drive, you may just consider aligning yourself with a good shop and hang out with the mechanic that's working on your car at the time. That would be one of the "safest" things to do while still seeing/learning how repairs and maintenance are performed. If not, no worries and the best of luck!

FWIW, I had a PPI done on a '95 C2 at Koby Motors and found Jose to be awesome. He spotted issues with the car in 2 seconds that I would've flat out missed. Getting a few recommendations makes your choice a bit more difficult, but it's better to have a list of solid shops that can likely all meet your needs.
