Question Spoiler Failure?

Has anyone else had a problem with their rear spoiler where it failed to extend to the proper height during both the automatic and manual operations of the spoiler?

After a trip to the dealer due to a recurrent warning light saying "spoiler control failure" and the replacement of the spoiler switch, the problem is still existant. The dealer told me that I would need new hydraulic rams installed because mine were leaking. Installing this new ram assembly would consist of replacing the entire decklid/spoiler assembly and then having it painted to match the car.

I would prefer not having to replace the entire assembly due to my warranty being up. Is there anything that I can to do to avoid having to replace all of these parts and just replace the hydraulic rams?

Common on 01 and 02 cars. Clean and lube it very carefully.

Any specific way to go about doing this? What lube to suggest I use?

Also, double check and make sure the error codes are indeed caused by leaking rams and not the microswitches.

The upper/lower micro switches are delicate and can fail... causing the same error codes. They're very easy to replace. You need the upper, lower, and bracket that holds them both.

I believe that also one of the main culprits in 01-02 was the electrical conector off the right side..........it was for me.....disconnect, contact cleaner, reconnect.
