996 Trans - which oil

First, to my knowledge this has bee discussed in the past- I attempted the search and came up empy.

Now the question, I've had some work performed on my 996's trans with factory LSD.
The tech / owner suggested that I replace it with dyno - Swepco 212.
I mentioned,...it's all stock and to my knowledge everyone replace fill with M-76/90 syn.

Should I try this Swepco or simply stick with 'factory' recomendations on using a syn type of trans oil?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions

anytime you run an lsd you need to use trans fill that doesn't contain any "friction modifiers". so the best bet would be m1 delvac 75/90 which is without them.

if stock w/out lsd i would use the redline 75/90.

i would guess? it can be found at most any of the "larger" auto supply places. barring that, pelican parts is local so even if they had to ship it, it'd be next day. search their site and see if they carry it or call pep boys/napa et al

the shop i use just picks it up as needed. i've never filled on my own.

I have used both Delvac and Redline. For me the Redline seemed to shift smoother. Mind you this is just normal street driving.

I didnt know an LSD was a factory option. How do you tell if you have one?

Makes sense.. Given the mention of factory lsd

I think LSD vs none should properly affect ones decision to use delvac vs redline. "Friction Modifiers" again.

Ideally, for most Porsche boxes(transaxles), you don't want friction modifiers LSD(which most 'traditional'/'old-school' lsd's want) or not, sychros need to be sped up and the modifiers play a negative role
Buy a quality fluid and change regularly

Guys, yes on the GT2 and just upgraded the 'guts' of the OEM LSD to Guard parts.

I ended up locating a gallon of M1 Delvac 75/90 for the refill.
I'm looking foward to the new set up. Simple ERP toes, corner balance, up graded internal Guard LSD parts and alingment.
All for the street.
