If it goes to 1.2 your leaning you possibly have a lot of leaks get it checked out. Most tunes only go to 1.0bars because of stock injectors. Blown motor = 20k easily.

I was reading up on it though, and it seems as if the older Porsche coolant may be green. Should I have this flushed? Also, the spare tire is missing, so if anyone has a lead on where to get a good deal on one please let me know.

Also, I paid $35.5k for this car. It has just under 59,000 miles on it. No X50, no heated seats, no PCCB, so I guess it must be a more bare bones one. Not sure what kind of deal I got on it, as always, I'm sure it could have been better, but it seemed like a "fair" deal to me, and the PPI told me it was clean. What do you guys think of the pricing? Honestly, I'm just curious. It doesn't really matter to me too much, because even if I paid more than I should have, it puts a smile on my face every time I turn the key, so in my book that is worth something to me.

Anyway, hope to spend some time on here and learn a bit while I'm at it along with meeting some cool people also.

If any of you have some good advise or piece of mind to tell me, please feel free!

^ agree with 996550hp that seeing 1.2 regularly on a k16 car is something you should figure out as to "why".

and re cracked taillight housings? welcome aboard and to the joy of ownership lol and many of us have been waiting some taiwanese led replacements that may or may not be suitable replacements. they are rumored to be in mfg stage. but enjoy getting to know the car and drive it with aplomb! lol

add: thats a GREAT price btw mine is now about the value of a ******* box toy sheesh lol

Congrats on the buy!!! That is a great deal on the car. 1.2 bar could be a flash or a boost leak but I would suspect that you would get a check engine with a boost leak. In either case, I would check your system with a smoke test for boost leaks. Also, as everyone recommended, you can change the coolant. Check out the knowledge area. There is a lot of good information on there.

Wait, so 1.2 on a tune = boost leak??

My system was leak free with 16K turbos, hitting 0.8. Modified my exhaust via the OEM thread, hit 0.9 regularly. Added EPL tune and hit 1.1 regularly with occasional 1.2 on the gauge.

BTW, congrats on the new ride. Sorry to highjack with my question.

Cheers.

You are not hitting 1.2 bar on K16s with a boost leak, misleading bro-science at it's worst mate

Congrats on the new beast and welcome Porsche landia! Definitely looks like midnight blue, same color I have. I have an EPL tune running 1.1 bar, though I am on K24s (x50 stock turbos).

Sorry for misleading, meant to say that I doubt the issue is a boost leak. No problem for checking it out for leaks though with the cars age. In this weather, depending on where you are, cars will run higher boost if it is cool out. I haven't seen more than 1.0 bar on my flash but then again I am in FL heat.

You got a pretty good deal, though find out if the car had its 60k service as it's pricey. Enjoy the car!

Congratz, great looking car!

$35.5k is a great price! Mind me asking where you found this car to buy? How many prior owners?

Hey thanks for the welcome everyone. I guess I should clarify, the boost only goes up to 1.1 1.2 if I really hammer it, basically it takes effort to get it up there, everyday driving and even hard acceleration, it maybe goes up to .9 usually at the most.

Yes they are chromed turbo twists. That was actually on my list of things to change. Once I find a set of non chromed ones these ones are going curbside for trash pickup. The last guy paid over $1k to have them chromed. Still not quite sure why he would do that, but as they say, each to their own lol.

You don't have the fuel above 1.0bars something is not right just looking out.

On also the car is already going in on Monday. The previous owner only had service records for when he owned the car and I think I'm owner #7. Both of these issues I really didn't like that much but finally looked past it because mainly I broke the two rules of car buying and got impatient and had to have the car when I saw it in person.

But yeah, 60k mile service was just done less than a thousand miles ago, I think it was new belt, plugs, air filter and a few other things. I'm taking it in to have the coolant flushed, brake fluid changed and some other issues that the PPI uncovered addressed so as you all said I will have a baseline of where to start. Plus if it has green coolant and Porsche uses pink since like 2005 I figure it's been in there for 9 years anyway so it's time to change it.

Ok I'll ask them to take a look at that also. Hate to blow the thing up right away. Any ideas what it could be? Bad tune maybe?

I could see someone doing a flash and fpr and calling it good.
