How much louder is going catless? (keeping the same muffler)
How much louder is going catless? (keeping the same muffler)
I'm currently running a Fabspeed exhaust with high flow cats (probably their first gen?). It looks like a previous owner might have had high-flow cats welded in.
If I were to cut out the cats how much louder would it get? I might just try it and weld the cats back in if the volume or drone gets too bad.

I have a fabspeed with gutted cats and it's pretty loud when you get on it but I don't think it's unbearable. I personally like it a little louder. I can try and do a video of my setup and send it over.
i had a catted fabspeed exhaust before switching out to a 3" resonated x pipe (catless). The tone is more raw, and has a tendency to drone if you are in lower rpms. As far as louder, i wouldn't say it's unbearable in the cabin, i think my neighbors notice more than I do.
I can take video for you if you'd like, I don't have any old videos of the fabspeed installed so wouldn't be comparing apples to apples.

Thanks for the video offer guys, but I don't think it will give me what I need.
I'm ok with the car being louder...I just don't want to be setting off any alarms in my parking garage when I leave in the mornings....

what's the ultimate goal of going catless?
it will rumble a bit more, and you need to take care of the CEL that you will get... usually via software tune....

FWIF I've set off alarms in parking garages with my europipe 'loud' exhaust which has cats.. You could see if you can replace the cats with resonated test pipes.

I welded in some exhaust cutouts just before the piping enters the muffler, but the sound isn't raw/loud enough for me with the valves open
Previous owner had it tuned. CEL could already be off, but I'm running O2 spacers with catalyst elements inside them.

If they are 200 cell cats,,then it should be pretty noticeable but you will pick up a lot of drone..
I also have a brand new set of cat delete pipes available that can be fabed up to almost anything,,very good price.

There is when you start making 600 + rear wheel HP..
And going from 100 cell cats to 200 cell cats at around 525 rear wheel HP..
These are my findings.
It isn't about benefits...it's about the ear-to-ear grin on my face when the exhaust opens up and it sounds like an open-header race car.
To each his own..
