997 SSK install help/question.

Hi guys (and gals),

I just bought a 997 SSK. I marked the cables before removing. However, when I installed the 997 SSK with the green alignment tool the left cable is off by about 1/4".

Has anyone else experience this issue? Should I go by my marks or the alignment tool?

Any help is appreciated, thanks
Khai

I just installed mine a few nights ago you're supposed to use the green tool on the original shifter first Then mark the cables with a marker then remove the unit and install the new one making sure counting the threads exactly as before also using the green alignment tool again then button everything back up.

Btw did you reinstall that small green plate underneath the right side cable that you can see in the picture?

I didn't get that little green plate. I assume it's so the little latch finger doesn't snag on the houseing edge..

That's what I was thinking I didn't reinstall mine because unfortunately I broke the tab while removing it on the stock shifter. Did you re use yours on the 997 shifter?

I don't get one and didn't have one on the shifter I took out.

Why would you use the green tool on the old shifter AND Mark the cables and then use the tool on the new shifter. Seems redundant.

In my case either my cables have stretched or the previous shifter was installed incorrectly since the marks on the old shifter don't line up on the new shifter with the green tool.
