Gt2 hydraulics hose issue

So I'm taking a clutch change opportunity to get rid of the assist in my 996 turbo.

I have all the parts and understand the drill and tap case method.

The one unclear piece is the hose. Ive read several diy and still unclear what is the problem with the hose?

Any what are my options for taking care of it?

it goes like this. the oem hose for the gt2 i got didn't have a fitting on the end to attach to the hard line. a mechanic i talked to said the fitting was 400$ WHAT!!. so you need to remove the fitting from the oem tt flex line and install it on the new gt2 line. it has a unique locking ring INSIDE of the tt fitting. it needs to be squeezed together and the line pulled out. then you can use the tt fitting on the new gt2 line and attach it to the new setup

hope that was clear as mud!

Ok so basically I need half 996tt line to fit to the hard line on the body and half gt2 line to fit to slave?

I saw one diy where they threaded the slave hole.

So is the fitting something I swap myself or a hydraulic shop?

If you are doing the drill and tap menthol, there is nothing to modify if I recall. You are using all OEM GT2 parts including the hose. I don't remember transferring any fitting. Maybe some stuff had changed... Don't forget to disassemble the PS pump and remover the coupler...

+1 - I didn't have to modify anything.

when i ordered the gt2 line from the slave to the hard line from pelican it arrived with no fitting on the end. talk to a tech at a porsche dealer and he told me the fitting was 400$ and i wasn't paying that. the fitting from the tt was used. possibly mine was shipped incomplete i don't know.if the gt2 line will thread onto the hard line then theres nothing more to do. if it won't then you have to swap the fitting.

lines from the p/s pump and reservoir either have to be removed or plugged off. i went the gt2 setup and removed all the lines completely

i don't know if this will help but heres the thread i had regarding the locking clip.

Yep, that's the best way to do it. I bought a GT2/Tip reservoir and removed all the old lines.

Also different fluid. GT2 uses DOT4 and your assisted 996TT used Pentosin. Make sure there's no trace of the Pentosin left. As they say, "ask me how I know."

I'm probably just adding more confusion here, but I thought the issue with the factory GT2 hydraulic hose is that it is too short, so you have to get a longer hose made with the correct fittings

It seems that's the case when doing the bracket conversion, not the drill and tap the case way.
