Oil Leak - Dufus Here
Clean the affected area. Use a can of soft and dry women's deodoant. Spray the whole area down. It dries white drive the car look for the dark spot the deodorant absorbed. Leak found. Rinse everything off
Getting 1-2 feet of snow here from tonight and black ice today so cannot drive but will try this when it is a little better out.. may be a little boy and test the A3 quattro in the snow though
Depending on the size of the leak, you might be able to replicate it by just bringing the car up to normal oil pressure by letting it warm up.
Based on your description, Im guessing its a fitting somewhere rather than a hole/tear or it would be spraying everywhere. Either the sand/deodorant method should give you a clue even if its minimal.
Your car, your choice though. If you arent too worried about it then just wait for a day when you can fully test.

I got out in it later today as the ice had gone and temps in mid 40s... woo hoo warm for NY and before the storm
I did the deodorant test and nothing..... as in no leak found.
I am on a 93 octane tune ATM and it was giving me a weird pause in 3rd and 4th gears between 2800-3200 rpm... really weird LIKE A BOOST LEAK
but then I did a datalog and it showed knock in each gear 2800-3200 and AFRs crazy rich.. so I did the unscientific thing and drove 50 miles around and added 2.5 gallons of E85 and the balance 93 octane.. returned home thumping the car in 3rd and 4th a bit and had no knock and no pause at those rpms...
is that weird or if a car is mega rich it will also do that..
I thought it strange because at the max torque above 4000 rpms it was going okay...
I will just run the 93 octane as if it were E20 from now on and once the snow clears here later this week will jack her up and do the sand paper test and another leak test and check the close ups of the fittings around the RHS turbo and downpipes etc
Thx for the help and suggestions

will check the sensor/s after the storm
I did buy an axe in case I lose power
I have 1000's of trees I can cut down if I need heat after I wade through the expected 2-3 feet of snow.... like my own episode of "Life Below Zero"... my crazy missus is out running around NYC doing business today and she thinks tomorrowKind of like putting a band aid on an amputated leg
basic car is a bit of a slug but on day 2 it came to life with a nice Eurodyne tune
Stock car
Eurodyne Tune - 93 octane
Nice dog and I am burning some of our trees today myself lol. You guys are going to get hammered with snow according to forecast. I'm a big fan of Audis but have not owned the A3 sounds like a nice car for the money but I would personally buy a used newer A4= more car.
I also think the auto-rapid dual clutch gear changes off the line add a good 100-150 bhp equivalent over a manual in terms of speed/accel/times..... quite startling the g's these things will pull on a good launch but frankly I will be bored with the auto-manual thing within a month
My dealer owns the BMW, Porsche, Audi, Jeep and another dealership.. walking around the lot I was stunned how HUGE some of the new cars are... the 991TTS I have ridden in feels humongous next to my 996TTS.. also when I looked at the Macan, Cayenne and Audi Q things in their lot the only way I could determine which was Porsche and Audi was by the wheels (from a distance)...
Look at the 2015 VW GTi - it is $5000 cheaper than the Audi and IMHO a better all round car except for the FWD only
