I would try to avoid the S4, in fact, almost every Audi all together. Audis have great paint and interiors but they always have eletrical problems. From what I have heard, the new S4 is having large problems with the 4.2 engine and transmission but I am not positive on this. If it is either an M3 or S4, get the M3.
Audi RS6 would not be too hard to take. 450Hp biturbo, AWD. But that may be out of the $$$ range for the type of car your looking for...85K

I would go for a S4 and a FX45. I test drove the SUV, and it was fast. However the Toureg is a good choice too. An M3 is also a nice car, but since you are getting a Elise, a S4 is a better everyday sports car. Look at all the magazine reviews, they are all placing the S4 above the M3.

Well, technically you are correct, but, the M3 wins in all the comparisons the performance tests. Where the S4 ultimately wins the shootout is in the subjective tests.

I would get an M3 any day over an S4. It performs better, looks much better, and will hold its value better. I have driven rear wheel drive BMW's for years in Chicago winters. SImply get snow tires and watch everyone else get stuck while you wiz by. M3 all the way!!
