996 turbo values
This is such fun. I remember when my 964 C4 was bashed for being too different from the 80's era Carreras. The 964 was the bargain, as the 993 was sooooo much nicer to look at. Guess what? 964 prices have recently risen the most percentage wise. As for the 993...so many problems with fouled secondary air passages...you never hear that one anymore. If you want to smile, just know your 996 TT prices will be climbing over the next years, as long as the overall economy keeps improving.
the economy is not improving.
996 turbos will not climb in value or ever be sought after like a 993.
those smart enough to pick one up now and drive it regularly will be rewarded with every turn of the key. it will cost a decent amount of money to regularly maintain and mod particularly as they exceed 100k miles, where most everything except the motor needs to be looked at. overall, whoever keeps the car will continue to enjoy it with each driven mile diminishing it's "market value" while those that sell, will probably remember it and look back upon it fondly as a net loss lol

Few cars are an investment and I doubt the 996tt will ever be. When the prices get out of reach for the air cooled people will move on down the food chain. The 996tt is a very well designed car and has many things going for it, in some ways better then the air cooled cars. I could honestly care less about loosing or making money on my car and when I sell it only hope it goes to someone that will take care of it.
The prices will go up and as they are used like toilet paper and discarded will only make the relatively few nice cars in 10 years all the better. Having more then one car you enjoy is the key as while the tt can easily be used everyday its really not the best for such use. I can see a tune-exhaust maybe a short shift to make the car more fun to drive as they are easily reversible but keeping it close to stock and well kept will pay off. Most people say they are going to keep long term few do and all those extra mods reduce value and empty your wallet= 415 stock plenty for the average joe on the street.

..and who says my car by way of example, won't be a perfectly "nice"
car in ten years!? it still won't go up in value. never will, nor will yours, i predict. well, maybe yours lol
I'm just glad to see your still alive haven't seen you posting every two minutes as usual lol. Figured I could smoke you out with this subject that we've beaten to a pulp how many times now. We need some new fodder.
ha. went into lurk mode. didn't last
but yes please.. more fodder and cowbell.
all kidding aside, the undeserved and even laughable implication/suggestion by the misinformed of this car as the redhead stepchild of 911's, will keep prices and value of those cars underrated and artificially depressed forever. i predict. but ya know, i'm hazarding a "guess" like anyone else.

All 911 turbos become desirable and the 996tt will be no different, even maybe more so just for the fact that it was initially shunned. A side note I have bought a mint Ford Edsel and will be visiting all the Ford forums proclaiming it the best car ever conceived.
