any DIY For engine drop? and how much for labor to drop the motor?
Do you guys remember how much you paid to drop the motor? (thinking ahead since i need to fix the coolant leak) I have 3 indy shops on my list, just would like to get rough estimate how much it should cost me to drop the motor and compare the prices. Or I may wait we get nicer weather and do it myself- Glad I found the leak.

I dont have a lift so I wont even bother for diy engine drop.
I have to change clutch slave cylinder as well- so it be nice to do it as well.
np..yeah, at the very least, the slave requires you drop it but usually that can be done w just the motor mounts. i wouldn't mess with an engine drop ( again ) independently lol. too much hassle. ( for me )
Is there a DIY thread for dropping the motor anywhere? I've seen a YouTube video but it didn't go over anything but the drop itself and the blocking to support things. Something generally to tell you where all of the connections are to disconnect would be really helpful as I'd imagine slowly lowering an engine and hearing crackling or seeing a wire tugging would really suck. Lift and a hydraulic table (yay HF!) with some blocking seem like the way to go if you've got the space...
Likewise, can't find anything really good for tearing a motor down either

well i got quoted for dropping the motor and put it back in: one place is $1350 another one is $1000 waiting for last indy shop to call me... I need to take care of this crap, I dont want coolant exploding while getting on boost lol.
I'm going to the shop on sat to see where its leaking from.... keep you guys updated. IF the motor will get dropped i think i should pin/weld the coolant hoses.

and I believe that's what last shop will quote me. I really dont care few hundreds here and there- its nice to actually see whats waiting for me if it comes to worse.
that's what I pay. but mitigate that by the fact I'm doing other work, but if one were to isolate and itemize the engine removal and re-install. 6 hours at 100 per hour is what I pay, at the well known and highly reputable shop some of us in SoCal use.
someone else might pay a different price. adding coolant wouldn't be considered a separate line item.
shop manual says 8 hrs labor each way. add the additional cost of fixing the issue. and the cost of all the other things that you should do as long as the driveline is already out.
i mean why put 10+ yr old vacuum lines, coolant lines, crappy oem slave back in? you can do it in your garage if your handy with a wrench
figure 5k$ and you should be good.
