Toyo R888 problems?
These cars have so much weight on the back tires. Launching is rough.

It started slipping on WOT from 5k all the way to 7- and I knew it was donezo.
The funny part is, my shop said the stock clutch looks like it was "driven softly". Its funny because I slam gears hard all day every day. I guess it pays off to rev-match every shift?
Have my R888s on 32.5/36 PSI after running hot for 30 miles and they seem to be okay there but with my 235/40 and 315/30 I have to drive with PSM off always when I thrash her otherwise the PSM just locks everything up. Used to keep PSM on in colder temps with my Potenzas.
Drove today in 30F temps and the tires were awful

Ok I just pulled the drive shaft again, so now I'm rwd.
The two changes to the car I made right before I noticed this were
Replacing cord showing 335 to 315 AND
Putting my driveshaft back in.
So if I still have the squirreliness, it has to be the newer rear tires.
If it goes away, it's something with the awd drive and slightly taller tires in front.

I'm not in Houston.
What do you mean tp's? Tire pressures? I have run it all at this point with no real identifiable improvement.
I have varied the pressures by nearly 13 psi at 2 psi increments and nothing seems to affect it.

thats why ultimately i would suggest you bail on the toyos. i doubt its the suspension components? you know a lot about your car, i would go with replacing the tires. i have never in all my 911 days found less expensive tires to be a viable option, but certainly understand the reason "we" try anyway.
I don't use Toyos for price. I use them for traction. The Nito's and PS2's just don't grab. I'd love to try the SuperSports, if they came in the correct 18" sizes. PaulieWalnuts has good luck with them in 19's.
i only wish i could get the pss in 315/30. cheap tires are shyte on these cars, is what i think.
but hey if the first set worked fine, then of course, its something different. but what if not something causing your alignment to be whacked? or the tires being mismatched frt/rear..? then.. what?
as to grabbing whereitsat? I've never tried toyos so i cant speak on them per se? but I've always had more than enough grab with ps2's but now rwd i like to throttle steer any chance i get. ps 2's wear way too fast for the $500+ per copy.
the p zeros are like very hard glue. I've just scrubbed the rears and am going to back off some tp. too tight a ride.. but tough as nails.
all of this is different for each of us,.. as we are. lol

I've had my alignment done. They said it was barely out from before. No difference.
I thought about the slightly taller front v rear and awd drive, so I pulled the driveshaft today. No difference, never had any psm lights or trouble.
A buddy is going to let me drive on his spare set of tires.
Calling the toyos cheap isn't quite true. They are track tires. They don't last long. They are sticky. Whereitsat and I have very similar setups and I made 690 rwd. Obviously stickier they are, they faster they wear.
I've thought about michelins which is gladly do in awd configuration if it's a tire issue. If not, these toyo have a good amount of wear left.

Sorry I didn't mean that I don't appreciate the advice.
I understand the benefit of n rated and when speaking about street tires I see it as a completely valid point.
However, all the guys that race on the track don't use the n spec.
I know there are trade offs. But I was running r888 prior to the problem.
It's the newly developed symptom that troubles me.
