Do you wave? Do you wave back?

you guys are all so nice. waving unnecessarily up here is the motoring equivalent of crying wolf. we save waves for warnings and admonitions lol.
i just tested it. i saw a guy pushing 70/75 in a super clean a/c 911 probably a 72 ish? and he looked at me as i ( kinda sorta ) waved and just as i felt like howdy doody, he looked at me as if to say,..."what, is something wrong"?!?
it must be different where there are 100 911's per sq mile ha.

I'll wave, why not? Lots of newer P-car here though and no camaraderie to speak of. I toll will throw a thumbs up to most anything cool, gets some really weird looks when I give a Miata a thumbs up from the 911 lol

I can understand not waving in a place like Los Gatos or LA, where Porsches are as thick as overpaid 20-somethings.
Generally, my experience in two widely spaced states over 25 years:
1. 911 drivers wave, from earlier through 996s.
2. Porsche SUV drivers have no idea what you're doing; particularly female drivers.
3. Cayman and Boxster drivers: Generally, yes.
4. When I drove a 928: Often failed to receive a wave from air-cooled drivers.
5. Panameras: Too few to assess. Suspect it's a big NO in California, but: I speculate.
Personally, I'd rather make the gesture, though admittedly I don't bother when it's an SUV.

I've had several cars in the past that have tight nit enthusiast groups that would always wave. What I've noticed with Porsches in my area at least (San Diego), is a distinct disdain for it. Not just no wave, but almost the turning up of noses, or resolute ignoring even if I were to not so subtly say hi.
Sure, I've gotten a handful of warm acknowledgements, but they are few and far between.

MUCH more expensive cars rolling around than a 996TT, they are all beautiful-- KH

right!? thats what people do. look at you like "what!? porsche doesn't mean what it used to. you wave now and they think they have a blinker out or they left the gas flap ajar hah
but we all serve an occasional "thumbs up" or get one once in awhile that is just sheer shared appreciation for the "special" cars always on the back roads though.

he gave no reply
but as i've thought of this, i have concluded the most all of non reply's seem to be from old guys in 356's and wearing hats. oh wait!?!
