Got my S04s mounted. The immediate impression is that these are soooo much quieter and smoother than my PS2's, even when those were new. Though it likely is as much to do with my change in tire size. Commutes are a pleasure. I'm loving this new setup from that perspective. No traction impressions yet since I'm still just breaking them in. I'll update later.

Side by side, I was surprised that the S04s (@left 305/30/19) don't give up any width to the PS2's (@right 315/25/19).

Although Michelin's specs don't agree, I've seen a 305/30/19 PSS next to a 315/25/19 PS2 and the 305 PSS definitely looked wider than the 315 PS2

Thanks for the feedback, keep the updates coming as they are serious contenders for when I have to replace all 4

I saw that pic too. May be that all the new gen tires are run wider than their traditional dimensions?

The S-04 like the PSS seem to have more prominent rim protector lips, lending some more perceived width.

So I was concerned that the new size tires I was going to would change the aesthetics towards that of a 4x4 monster truck. I need not have worried cause no casual observer would notice other than myself since I'm looking for it.

Tried to capture that in a pic... Hard to tell with the shadows. The only thing that stands out with the new size is really the sidewall seeming more prominent due to again the rim protector lips.

same here, 305's just as wide as Toyo T1R 315/25's. Just got 2nd set of fronts mounted, 235's. The 255's were tooooooo tall and wide.

So got about 1k miles on these new tires now. Positive impressions all around! The ride quality is immensely improved over the 315/25 tires, which is expected with more sidewall. These tires are quieter, but also don't smack over road transitions as loudly.

Funny enough and not something I really am looking for, but gas mileage has improved by .5 mpg average by the computer.

Now traction...woohoo! Much much better front end grip with the 245/35 in place of the old 235/35. Can't say for sure how much of it is the S04's over the PS2's as it's not completely apples to apples. As for straight line traction, haven't heard a peep out of these breaking grip. Whereas could get a solid chirp out of the PS2's going hard into second on an on ramp. Partially this is due to the reduced overall gearing with the taller tires I think. It's not as spritely immediately off the line under casual driving, cause of the gearing, but for me it seems to get into boost quicker easier because of the added load (from gearing). In a launch, I think the slightly longer overall gearing is an advantage in the early gears as builds boost and goes slightly longer for my setup. I'm on A28s @1.1 bar, so probably right over 500 rwhp.

Try finding some 315x25x19. Everyone, except Nitto (no way) stopped making them. Looks like I'm back to 18"
