2003 seal gray with 11k miles
Not sure what you got....but I found it on the first post of the thread...now I'm gonna have another awesome car...or sell it for 60 and make a profit.
I bought my '02 in November of 2014 with 20,000 miles on it. I put on some PS-2's, PSS-10 and a short shift kit and go. Now at 34,000 miles she is rock solid. Tech said she is solid. No leaks anywhere so get it and drive it! The love it when you push them!!
Bought mine in February with 28,000 miles on it, now it's at 31,000. This is by far the best money I've ever spent hands down. I invent things to do so I have an excuse to drive. I knew nothing about these cars other than I thought they looked cool and I always wanted one. So if you are second guessing yourself stop now and buy it. I've already changed the brake pads and done an oil change which were both easy due to the extensive group of posters here and on rennlist. Other than occasionally having to top off a little motor oil and a cracked windshield I havnt had any trouble with the car at all. If it gets a clean ppi buy it, then learn what you need to do as you have a great deal on you're hands. The market is crazy and good cars go quick.
I have a friend with a 03 seal gray with 11k miles. It's all original, he only drives it a few times a year and is asking 45k. Looks like a good deal to me. Other than a ppi, what should I be looking for? Is that a good deal? I drive a tuned 335xi coupe that I love, but I am ready for my first pcar.

omg guys, let him breathe a little... lol
I bought mine cheaper, way cheaper, but because i found few issues with the car and had little room to play with money, I wanted under 40k car, black with gray interior and 6 speed. I maybe overpaid but it was "knock on the wood" worth my damn time and money, well the car is happy it found the right owner- who cares. previous owners were dumb, and careless, and nothing ever go fixed! i dont even want to mention. slap in the face.-----
you can perform the ppi yourself, really,
1. check all electronics, touch every switch.
2. warm up the car
3. take it for a spin, find open road, do 3rd gear pulls, (to check if the car missfire or not (coils and sparkplugs are not that expensive to fix if you do it yourself)
4. do 2nd gear pulls to make sure the car stays in gear. (2nd gear problems)
5. slap the car on the lift, go under and inspect for any leaks, check inner and outter boots, check pads, tire wear, etc.
6. check for any scratches/dings
remember this car is 10+years old. sure its new but to be honest in my book , you never know what you getting yourself into, sure ppi can save you from spending tons of money, but dont be in shock if you find a leak few months later. if the car checks out fine, since the guy is the first owner, go for it. buy it, remember lifes too short ! : to give up on toys you always want. learn how to fix minor things from oil change to boost leak test. it will save you a tons of money in a long run. I hope you jump on it and buy it! good luck!

Probably not an issue due to low miles, but have your PPI tech check the trans bushings for wear anyway.
Also do a thorough run thru on the AC blend door. If it's blowing bits of foam out of the AC vents, your AC blend door is slowly disintegrating due to age. A clue will be cold air coming out the windshield vents when its actually set on dash vents only. Not the end of the world, but an extremely labor intensive repair. Maybe use it as negotiation leverage if it needs to be fixed.

I believe its probably more prevalent in warmer/hot areas, mine thankfully isn't blowing foam. I have had a lot of older high mile cars and while I have had controllers/doors etc fail never had foam disintegrate.
There is some truth to that. The thing has in some ways been a big disappointment. I got spoiled with my Boxster experience and I thought a car that cost nearly 3x the Boxster (though I bought the Turbo used vs. new so didn't pay anywhere near 3x times what I paid for the Boxster (new)) would be if not better just as good. But it has not been just as good and better? Pbbbbt!
I continue to hold on to it thinking at some point all the things will get sorted but every service now there's something else amiss. The latest is the A/C system makes a noise that sounds like an air flap servo motor is acting up. This will probably cost the GDP of a 3rd world country to fix. Oh and the other day the driver's side window failed to drop when I opened the door. The Boxster window hardware and lock hardware lasted over 200K miles. Turbo just reached 135K miles.
I might add had I not resumed working but had the time I would have probably sold it by now and bought another car.

just luck of the draw and the script could easily be flipped, as they are some of the few shared parts btw the 996/986 are window and door parts..
