Oil Change Fail - Overfill
he saw smoke. doubtful he drained the trans.
i read this as he drained the crank ( closest to the rear of the car ) and that's all, then added 8 qts of oil resulting in an overfill of roughly 5+ qts.

Mine held almost exactly 9 after draining all reservoirs. 8.5 was a bar or two from the top. You're right though he's got oil in the intercoolers almost certainly, may foul the plugs, piping is probably gooed up badly. It's going to be a mess to clean up assuming he didn't actually run it up to operating temp with no oil as his description I quoted before seems to say.

What 'bars' are you referring to? Oh nevermind, I know what you mean now.

If he drained trans, and crank then measured oiled drained, then filled up with that much, could have overfilled , causing intake and IC filling with access .... oil in exhaust.... smoke....more smoke....
Take intake piping out to see if there is oil in there , if so then IC next .

I hope you get it right and you didn't do any damage. In the future I'd recommend you reading up on these cars before doing any trial and error wrenching. As hopefully you are finding out, a guess and execution along the lines of your hunch may prove to be a disaster. With the plugs, just a waste of time.
This is a worst case scenario for not doing the oil change correctly.
When I first bought my 996T several years ago I took it to the dealer for some work to get done and they took me in the back to show me something. It was a 997T engine completely torn apart which was getting a rebuild (20K cost at the dealer). The owner took the car to a jiffy lube or similar place to have the oil changed and they only drained one plug then refilled with oil. When they started the car oil shot out of the exhaust before they turned off the ignition. It required an engine rebuild at jiffy lube's expense (their insurance company). I bet that mechanic got let go in a hurry!

i have also read "jiffy lube" stories like this and a simple drain and refill was not enough. the damage had been done. lets hope the OP's absence is not from depression but rather from getting a shop to be able to sort it without any major tearing apart etc. there is no doubt he has oil anywhere it could migrate, given what occurred. that alone would have me sh*tting bricks.
Last oil change I did it was dark but not black like your video....
What he really should do is pull IC, hoses, intake plenum apart, see if there is oil in there. If that is really the case, clean them all out, hand crank the motor over to make sure it hasn't seized. Pull a plug to see if there is oil there, if so pull all of them, clean the area really well, put new plugs in, reassemble everything, ADD OIL (not too much ) and pray that motor starts and run. Excess in exhaust will burn off !
