996TT Grill Insert

I've noticed my TT picks up a lot of debris through the stock front grill and the radiator and I 've heard there are some aftermarket grill replacement/inserts that look great and protect the radiators.

If anyone has recommendations I'd really appreciate it.

thx, David

Exclamation wire mesh grills

I got mine, not long ago from Auto Direct Save for $31.99 w/free shipping.

I ordered the mesh type A (1/2" x 1")
you will need to order 2 of them to cover the front bumper.
I think type A is the perfect size, is perfectly enough to trap the crap from the road.

I bought the stainless steel grills but it was not worth the money. They are heavier and the mesh are smaller...

all of the wire mesh grills comes in steel color,
I went to Home Depot and got some black metallic (w/anti-rust) spray paint and spray over it.

here's a picture

hope that helps ...

BTW, the other day I was listening to your Progressive Movement vol.1 CD. Those tracks are still kickin'. It reminded me soo much of those crazy college times!!

EM 996,

Also, did you remount the outside temperature sensor that was (as stock) previously positioned inside the right front grill?

thx, david

Steve is right - it was Customs Unlimited out of Chicago. I don't remember the cost, but it wasn't anything terrible or I wouldn't have done it.

I just washed my car yesterday evening after running about in the wine country with the PCA this past weekend. I used an air gun and a small vacuum to pick a ton of dirt and leaves out of the front end. These things do lead with thier chin!

Garey,

Look very closely at your radiator behind the center grill. Do you see innumerable pebbles lodged between the fins? I did and spent half a day w/ a small scribe working them all out.

I looked at a couple other 996TT's at my dealer the other day that were in for service and I couldn't believe the crap behind the grills and the rocks in the radiators.

David
