Correct order of shims on throw out bearing installation

Hey Guys,

I googled around and found some different articles showing how to put the throw out bearing on the pressure plate but all of them included a different number of parts than I have. Maybe extras are in the box? I don't know. What is the correct way to install this?

Here are the parts I have with the bearing and pressure plate.
2 x thin shims
1 x toothed looking spacer
1 x thick solid spacer
1 x snap ring

OK guys after lots of digging around and research I figured this out. I'll post up for a reference for anyone else ever changing out their throw out bearing.

So first off here's the correct order.
1x Throw out bearing
2 x shims
1 x spring washer
1 x pressure plate
1 x thick shim
1 x spring lock

This is the correct order although I should have put the pressure plate in the pic. It goes between the spring washer (one with teeth on it) and the thick metal shim to the right of it in the pic.

Drop the two thin shims on the bearing first

Next comes the spring washer. The teeth must be pointing down towards the bearing as you put it on. Like this

So it looks like this sitting on the bearing

Now drop the pressure plate on. It has wiggle room so you have to carefully center it or else you're not going to get the transmission to line up when you go to put it back through the clutch.

Now after you place the thick shim on and attempt to put on the spring lock you'll notice you have to compress the pressure plate down to expose the groove in the bearing that the spring lock goes into. Only it takes a bit more force than you can do by hand. So I stacked some square tubing to make a jig if you will in the press to do this. I practiced on my old pressure plate and bearing removing and re-installing it to make sure I had the process down. It's super simple.

So now back to the new setup. You'll see the thick shim has a smooth rounded side and a beveled almost stepped side.

Smooth side

Beveled side

Came out dark, sorry, but here is the new setup been centered in the press.

Next lay the thick shim down smooth side touching the pressure plate. Beveled side facing up.

Then I just laid my square tubing setup on there. Pressed it down and slipped on the spring lock. Here it is all finished and done.

Hope this helps someone else get their bearing installed.

I must not be heavy enough. I tried standing on mine while my son tried putting in the spring lock. I'm a small guy, 160 lbs.
