herrquan is infamous around these parts
1. Transmission in neutral before you remove the OE shifter
2. Mount CAE base
3. Position shifter in neutral position
4. Adjust cables such that ball cups pop on without any movement to the cables or shifter
5. Install ball cups to CAE
6. Adjust grub screws for reverse, 1-2 gate and 5-6 gate

Thanks for the quick reply. I have done a lot to this car but never a shifter. Can you explain the adjustment of the "grub screws". Is that essentially adjusting the length of the cable, and if so how do you know you got all the gears with out some trial and error? I do not want to grind any gears...

Re: "grub screws"... I'm likely using the wrong words to accurately describe. They're the little allen head screws on the CAE shifter that control the side ways swing of the lever.

Once you have the cables mounted to the lever as described previously, back off the 3 little allen screws so they don't hinder the lateral swing of the lever. Don't remove them though.

Pull up on the reverse lockout and swing the lever to the far left. Note the pin action on the shifter that allows the lever to swing to the far left. When you swing the lever to the left use a little extra force than you would with the OE shifter.

Adjust the little "reverse" allen screw such that it touches the side of the shift lever - allen screw on the passenger side, forward position.

Now swing the shifter into 1st gear. Adjust the "1st gear" allen screw such that it touches the side of the shift lever - little allen screw on the passenger side, rearward position.

Finally, swing the shifter into 5th gear. Adjust the "5th gear" allen screw such that it touches the side of the shift lever - little allen screw on the driver side.

You'll may spend 15-20mins adjusting these screws to get the feel just right.

All the above is done with engine off... no grinding of gears.

I missed an earlier post where it indicated you're using OEM cables.

When I installed my CAE, I installed cup car cables as well. I had to cross the cables before securing them to the CAE base. I suspect you'll need to do the same with the OE cables. I think the CAE install instructions document this already.

To affix the cup cables to the CAE unit, I needed extra parts (ball cups for lack of a better term). I'm not 100% certain how the OE cables mount to the CAE unit. I'll let someone else chime in on this part.

Thanks for the detailed instructions. Once you get it all part the instructions really start to make sense. I installed shifter tonight. Getting it in was quick.... I'll adjust it tomorrow night.Might have a few questions in between. I'll post a review once its all installed and shifting properly.

For the weight reduction thread, Keep the center console in the car or on the work bench.... Weight loss Y0000!

How about the central spring whats the trick to that? Hardmotorsports emailed me over the CAE instructions, But they are hard to read/understand in my opinion.

I got it installed tonight and aligned properly, I even took it for a drive :-) . The instal and alignment are rather easy, Its the directions that make it hard (kinda bad hehe). Crossing the cables is a must. I had a hard time finding reverse, However once you read the directions ( i didn't get any) They tell you the cables must be "relaxed", which i overlooked. Mine were initially to tight and pulling the passenger side linkage every so slightly. In order to allow the cables to be "relaxed" the passenger side cable end adapter must be lengthened in order for the linkage to naturally pop into place. Once i got that i was in business! It was very easy from there on out.

thanks to Jake at Hardmotorsports for the directions via email and th talk we had super good guy. Also thanks to Herrquan for taking the time and posting such clear directions, It really painted the picture for me.
