Weighed the car this afternoon
pwdrhound's car such a dream car.
I'm currently 3120lbs with 1/4 fuel here. Lots of heavy parts but also have done few very important lightweight parts as seen from the figure.
For pwdrhound I suggest radio delete with empty OEM speaker grilles and storage shelf instead of the headunit for a clean OEM look. Also would install the Clubsport cage, you get a much safer clean full cage (not the most safest though but it was FIA-specced back in the time) which is also quite lightweight and period correct for our cars!
Also, the problem with seat weight with the OEM GT3 seats are the HEAVY seat brackets....they weight a ton. Haven't done anything for those though.
And, if going with carbon doors (check Cargraphic with crash impact bars) and lightweight door panels you could still remove a lot of weight. Perhaps 70lbs or so. But a bit expensive project for my liking. Also lithium batteries are much less than that 21lbs.
Keep up the good work!

I don't think I unplugged my battery any time I swapped my seats. I'm still running those Momo's I bought from you. No airbag light.
when dealing with electronics its always best to unplug the battery and wait 10 minutes or so. then you never have to worry about someone else turning the key or you forgetting your not supposed to. its backyard diy 101
I agree in an unsecure environment disconnecting the battery makes sense, also for jobs involving large current or self-danger...starter, alternator...belt replacement, etc.
For the seat swap there is very low risk, and if you 'mess-up' then reset with Durametic or other favourite reset method...just stating fact that battery does not need disconnected.

Interesting in case of the base Frame for the seat, any pics/ links/ threads?
