Yeeesh... I talked to the owner of my car a couple times, got the PPI done and then offered 1k below what he was asking for it (which he got back because he had some parts I didnt want). I knew what the going rate was and what I wanted.

There are some good buyers out there.

I've thought about selling my stockish car to buy one with all the go fast mods for an extra 5-10k, but after finally selling our house I just can't take any more baloney right now

It's been sort of comical this time as I've had a good amount of "interest" but some how I'm labeled as trying to pull something.

It goes like this... Lots of threads about buying a modded car. Lots of opinions, unknowledgeable commentary etc. but many of the "buyers" think why are you selling your "modded" car and they get all suspicious.

Lots of people claiming to love it but "it's modded". They are right it is modded, if that's not what you want, it's probably not the right car right?

Anyway, there's my soapbox. All in good fun. I love the car and I'm trying to keep it so maybe it will all work out in the end.
It's karma !! you were meant to keep the car . Enough said

On the same note, I recently got a large supply of .22 ammo in (100K rds) and was trying to spread the love on a forum to sell off and most of the response was based on on how I was gouging and they could go to walmart and buy it cheaper on tuesday or some other morning at 6 am

stilov. why dont you consider a consignment of the car to a broker of these that will help you sift thru the incessant tire kickers? it might be worth the premium if he got you more for the car with less hassle. i cant even imagine the bs i'd endure having to sell mine as i dont even keep receipts lol while conversely i keep it immaculately sound in mechanical terms

but folks love receipts and type 1/2 dme dumps lol. and the ever overrated ppi's lol. i drove mine 5 mins and paid cash without haggling. not one dime.

just a thought.

Ya I actually talked to ruf about consignment. I just haven't followed through.

I do laugh a bit at the dme over revs. I get it being data but some people are all about the revs. Who knows how many cars are out there that don't readily give that data and been revved to the moon and back. In those cases no one is even the wiser!

For what it's worth, Most sellers wouldn't make the effort to be so thorough on the negatives - perhaps people can't handle your honesty? All that said, I would be thankful for this info if I were shopping around for cars.

When I sell anything I come up with a price that I think is more than fair and stick with it. When its a car I insist they come look at it and tell them its that price if they want it and its that price if they don't and have always found a buyer. Knowing the market and honest condition of your car helps set a price that expedites the sale. Just my opinions.

the more expensive the car, the harder to sell privately. It sucks.

Well... It's looking like I might have a buyer.

It's not a totally done deal yet, but I think it might happen.

So there's that.... I'm going to miss it. Hopefully it won't be long before I'm back.

stilov. i'm sure your car is a steal at whatever the asking is.. but my real question is..

when you guys DO sell?? do you guys have to go to rehab for a week or so until they equalize your adrenals to compensate for the missing adrenaline fix!?

gl man.. hope its not a tire kicker!

Don't feel bad. I'm going through the EXACT same dilemma that you're currently facing. Like others have said previously... A modified car isn't for everyone. However, if the "buyer" obviously showed interest and contacted you. They should know what they're getting into. I can't begin to tell you, how many tire kickers and even worse scam artists I have to weed out everyday. Lol
I hope that things pick up for you!

A little venting...

Thanks for the support guys.

Can't decide what the next adventure is car wise... It ll be cheaper than the 996 for now.

I have a couple regrets, never had it at the track... So I don't know what it can do. Rarely ran anyone on the street, except that cbr600 that I crushed. I always wanted to do one of the runway events too. The car just shines up top.

Instead I drove it in traffic most of the time . It has been one of the best cars I've had.

I tried finding my old e39 m5 but the owner won't sell it. That was another car that I regretted selling.
