9ff switchable exhaust is the way to go.. mild or wild. when it starts sounding a little on the loud side, .. flip the switch .. to drop the sound level.. just like some high performance boats.. expensive, but worth it..

30 hp maybe. 50 no way. If you want speed for the same amount of cash then check out the 520 psi kit from Orton performance.

Was that directed toward us?

On a K24 car, 50hp is absolutely achievable. There are enough dyno plots floating around for various exhausts that prove this.

That's correct... the larger turbos really benefit from a freer flowing exhaust. The larger the turbo kit the more need and bigger the delta for an exhaust...

This is very true for turbo cars.

Thanks Mike,

600 HP has a nice ring to it. Do any of these mod's negate the warranty? I've only had the car for 7 months.. not sure I can justify modding it yet. I'll check out your website
thx,
tmw

Mike,
I did not realize an x50 benefited this much more from just exhaust. My bad. Was not directed towards anyone personally I just had read about other claims of 50 hp being high. If bigger turbos benefit this much then I need bigger turbos! Thanks for clearing this up.

Finally some discussion of exhaust performance (as opposed to the panaply of threads rehashing the same discussion regarding which exhaust has the more melodic tone). I agree with Alex . . . the key is to get a free flowing exhaust . . . the increased air flow will both: (1) increase power, and (2) reduce turbo lag. Frankly, most of the mass-marketed 996TT exhausts use restrictive chamber mufflers which sap power. Straight through mufflers, although admittedly not as melodic, are indisputably better in terms of generating power. Its a personal decision . . . . power or melody. I personally choose power.

Craig

if you REALLY want to know about exhaust performance, talk to Sol from Perfect Power. He owns a Porsche race shop near Chicago. .. http://www.perfectpowerinc.com/ .. he knows his stuff and speaks the truth with no b.s. .. among other things, i purchased my 9ff switchable exhaust from him.
