I have to get a gearbox rebuild for my 996TT Tip and I'm wondering how I can make it shift faster.

When I had the Engine Control unit reprogrammed I also had the Tiptronic Control Unit reprogrammed. Software was done by Evolution Motorsport. Suggest you check with them.

 

by getting a 997.2 w pdk transmission. they are defintely "better" than the older style tiptronic. while i realize that probably doesn't help, here's a quick read https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...tiptronic.html on why the pdk equipped cars are "better" than those with the tiptronic. i am fairly certain they are in NO way interchangeable tip to pdk conversion for a 96t.

though you "might" find a way to rebuild your tip so as the change the ratios to favor quicker shifts, but you're getting into some bucks if even possible.

 

send your trans to renntech in florida and have them upgrade the clutch packs and the torque convertor. it will amaze you how fast that trans can feel

 

3krazy! did you have this done? IPT rebuilt my entire tranny but the problem is the 996 ECU/TCU tuning is limited. It handles the power but its not really shifting faster or tuneable

 

Vantaradoc had his rebuilt at renntech. I have a 6 speed

 

software change + solenoid upgrades can make it very fast...upgraded clutch packs will improve torque handling
