Irregular / delayed boost Issue: Advice Needed!

Hey guys,

I'm having a boost issue that seems like I have a leak somewhere or maybe a diverter valve / wastegate that isn't doing its job well. For reference the car is stock engine-wise except for a 1bar tune.

I'm getting a long delay in making boost, probably about 3-5 seconds and when it does make boost it seems to spike at 1bar pretty quick. Sometimes I will be showing 0.3 bar or 0.5 bar but the car wont feel like its in boost during these times. When I do make full boost it seems like I'm getting a lot more noise (air whooshing) than usual. Could just be me being paranoid but thought I'd mention it.

This could be unrelated but every now and again I will get an irregular idle and the car will dip below idle after deceleration. This will trigger a "low oil pressure" bong but then it will go back to normal and the message wont come back. Oil pressure and oil level is totally fine otherwise.

Any ideas? I was thinking bad diverter valves but I'm not getting a honking noise. I'm going to take it in to my shop but figured I'd ask you guys since this forum is amazingly helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Justin

Sounds like the usual suspects, wastegates, diverter valves, check valves, or boost hose leak. Perform a "Markski" pressure test if you're handy or have your shop perform one. Make sure they do a real pressure test to 20 psi, not just a smoke test. You, or they, will need to make up special fitting plugs. Do a search, you'll find lots of info on how to do it, it's a pretty easy dyi that can save you a lot of time and money.

Classic boost leak symptoms.

The low oil pressure is likely unrelated. It's a common issue on this platform.
