Confusion about Clutch Kits.. which one to order?

Hi all.. I know this topic was discussed on the boards numerously, but that's what generates the confusion for me)

I'm running a 580hp '02TT with stock dual mass fw. Pressure plate is stock too. While the tranny is taken off, awaiting rebuild, I figured I'd swap out the clutch as well. I can't decide on which kit to buy. I would like to go SACHS, but most kits I see are OEM replacements (like this one), which are, as far as I believe, not a good choice for a tuned car. Then there is a plethora of aftermarket kits with various specs and stages Confused

Can anyone just point to a link for an optimal Sachs kit for my car?

Thanks a bunch!

P.S. Mostly for street driving. I track about 6-7 days a year.

What power level do you expect to end up at? Budget?

While its out seriously consider having it upgraded to GT2 parts and remove the existing booster setup that uses the P/S pimp for boost.

I'm not really planning to increase power. It was last dyno'ed by the first owner in 2003. I can only hope all 580hp/700Nm is there. If not, I will focus on regaining the initial power first. Plan to dyno it this spring. If all is well I will focus on upgrading to CAE shifter and bigger brakes.

My shop has already ordered stock parts for the gearbox ;(
GT2 parts cost more, right?

What's the P/S/booster setup?

sachs IS OEM!

so..just pulling one out of a quick search hat that people have used for YEARS and is the next real step up from stock unless you simply go oem sachs w gt2 disc as i have is the sachs 2.5 kit. which it time honored and no hassle and can be set up (iirc? ) for either a dmfw or lwfw. but it's enough for any MID level powered car. 1600 is a really decent price too!

http://www.tikore.com/sachs-clutch-kit-2-5/

if you're going crazy then you have to start looking at the other options but this would be a great setup for your power levels. that link looks like the stock replacement and is also a really good price. you could get away with that and just a gt2 disc but the 2.5 with the 764 plate and 098 disc ? more folks would suggest

kit should include those below and that tikore kit does..
-Sachs Performance Pressure Plate (764)
-Sachs Performance Clutch Disc (098)
-OEM Release Bearing
-Flywheel Bolts (9)
-Pressure Bolts (9)

i believe blkmajic is referring to the elimination of the oem slave and doing the gt2 slave delete conversion so you're not having the ps reservoir share pentosin from the power steering reservoir/system for the hydraulically assisted clutch which is prone to finicky engagement points, feel and consistent failure(s).

pdwr if he's around *may* jump in and clarify what exactly you may want/need but again, that sachs based 2.5 kit ( which is a misnomer since it isn't a "kit" until someone called it that! ) s more than enough for where you're at.. again lol..

I went for the sachs 2,5.
It should hold 890nm, and im not going past that.

My original clutch was slipping a bit during hard launch, and all ive done is boost leak and markski tune.
Im going for injectors, billets and IC as soon as i got the money.
And im pretty sure this clutch will hold up the expected 580-600 engine hp's
