I know this is a basic question but how can I tell if the motor/transmission is original to the car for a 996TT. Helping a friend look for a new car. I put the car on my lift & have multiple pics of the engine numbers along with the stamping on the transmission. I just wasn't sure which numbers should match up to the VIN or is there another way to tell.

 

This is your engine number. The dealer can access the file of your car with your vin# and tell you the original engine serial number.....
