I intend to use another dyno.

Do you or anyone else have a San Diego/Orange County recommendation?

We tried 3rd and 4th - the best run on pump program was in third. The best 4th gear pull showed 405 AWHP @ 6300 rpm, 17.9 psig and 383 AWTQ @ 3850 rpm, 17.2 psig. We didn't have the AFR sensor in the tail pipe since I thought that may be restricting some flow and asked him to take it out.

Costco specially formulated racing 91 octane- gotta love CARB

Steve,

I spoke with Jesse yesterday regarding your car. From my calculations your numbers are right on for that type of dyno. I dyno tested a 996TT with the same upgrades as yours yesterday on our 2WD dynojet and saw 542 RWHP and 559 RWTQ on race gas and 525 RWHP and 540 RWTQ on pump 91 octane gas. The dyno dynamics notoriously have a very low reading as compared to other dynos. I have been told that the correction factor on that dyno for 4WD is 40-45%. Contact me if you want more information. Take care. Todd
Todd, thanks for the feedback through Jesse and here. However, third party opinions are prudent - Caveat Emptor. Let me state again that I enjoy the car immensely. Butt dyno, driveability, sound, etc. Though it does suck gas - I went through 3 tanks at Streets of Willow. I recognize that is both a function of a a small 16 gallon tank and a heavy foot through lots of laps - Man, what a blast !

Bottom line - the result I got was a "Buzz kill" more than an indication of dissatisfaction!

Steve,
In your spreadsheet, you have the AFR data for the chipped run, but not the stock run. Do you have this data? It's clear that most of the power is coming from the increased boost, but I'm curious if they changed the mixture at all versus stock.

-Mike
I know I should have gotten a before run without any mods to get the relative comparison but I could't work it into my schedule. As for the AFR of the "stock" program runs - I took the probe out of the tailpipe after the first couple of "pump" runs since I thought, maybe incorrectly, that it could be restricting exhaust flow.

Thanks again for everyone'w feedback and I would love to get a referral to another dyno venue.

Steve

Ok sorry but 40-45% loss for a dyno is not accurate. Its more like 15-20% max on that one.

Oh lord that setup will not work. The air has to be streamed directly into the intercooler. That will heat soak through the first run.

BCS996TT is infamous around these parts
40-45% loss on that AWD dyno?!?!??!?! WTF? That makes absolutely no sense.

AWE has one of the best AWD Dynos.... Mustang. The loss factor for that AWD dyno is only 17%. That's very close to a 2WD dynojet (15%).

I cant believe a similar awd dyno would have a loss factor of 40-45%.

With just a chip, my stock k16 turbos and exhaust (nothing else)... i dynoed at 437 AWHP.

With my Stage II turbos.... 496AWHP

Both setups on 93 pump gas

Definitely go 3rd party and get another dyno run.

Thanks Stephen,

Do I need something like the Formula 1 radiator cooler fans that attach to the side inlets?

This is the first time I have taken a car to a dyno so I don't have the experience to ensure they set up correctly.

I'm willing to go to a different shop in SoCal that has a better setup and alternative equipment. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Steve

It seems that the chipped program does not actually spool up any faster than stock as some have stated on this board before.

The boost curves are almost identical up the point where the stock program limits boost.

Is anyone else seeing this?

The 2 'snail' fans should be right against the intercooler outlet, blowing air backwards through the intercooler so you feel a strong airflow out both sidevents.

I'll add a video of an EVO750 dyno run later

Guys - Like Todd at EVO said, a DynoDyanamics dyno always reads significantly less than a dynojet or mustang dyno - this is a known fact.

We were going to get an AWD dynodynamics dyno at our shop, and even the rep from their company said it will read from 15 up to 20% less than a dynojet or mustang. Considering this, that makes perfect sense.
Ya probably 20% tops, and thats pushing it. No way a 40-45% loss.

I use a DynoDynamics dyno for all of my cars (except the TT since it's not a AWD dyno). Anyway..it's well known throughout my area that this particular DynoDynamics dyno reads at least 10% lower than the Dynojet Dyno that is also in the area.

I think he mean 15-20% on top of mustang 17%. It will close to 40% total.

No chance. Whats the point of a dyno? 40% loss is a joke. So you think his car has 576awhp on a dynojet?

I'm still looking for a reputable third party dyno in SoCal that other 6speeders have used before.

Thanks,

Steve
