So I haven't been able to make up my mind about doing the LED upgrade on my car. Sometimes I look at pictures and I think it looks good and other times they just don't do it for me. I want something that stays with the lines of the car and the taillight housings but has an updated look. This is what I came up with. What do you guys think?
Interesting. Cheap, easy, unique. Gives it that 991 sliver look.
Personally, I like the original lights, but good job coming up with a solution to your "problem".
Does it look the same as oem at night with the lights on except when reversing?

It does look the same as factory when the running lights and brake lights are on but when the blinkers light up its split orange and red. Not sure how I feel about that. But it looks pretty oem except for that.
It is a lot of red though. What about a 1"-2" body colored border around the entire light? That would really make it look slimmer like a 991.
Or a body colored strip along the top and the bottom.
Bumper lines might look off though.

Yeah I agree, it is a lot of red. I think you're right about the color matched strip, it. Would make a look more slim which I would like but then it might look a little busy with all the different lines including bumper and body lines. One thing I am considering is after the vinyl heats up and clears a bit, doing another layer on top of the red but doing smoked color.
I like the creativity behind the mod. I'm more of a period specific kind of guy, but at the end of the day, it's your car. If you like it... That's all that matters.
It looks like 2 big sets of lips on the back of your car, OEM tail lights are the way to leave them specially on the color of your car where they blend in
i agree with most of the feedback about the light mod and I had tried the same thing but smoked vinyl instead of red and it didn't look good. The color was completely different from the lower red section and the upper clear when I just used smoked but what I ended up doing was wrapping it twice. First in red which you guys have seen, then a second layer in smoked over that. I really like the way it came out with the combination. It definitely goes better with the color of my car but I think it would look better on just about any color than the red by itself. Like you guys said, it was just too much red.
FYI this pic is of the light after I did a quicky in my garage at the house. I just wanted to get an idea of what it will look like and if I liked it. Now I will take it to my shop and do a real install on both lights. Pics to come of the completed project with a full view of the ***.
