Hi, i search but cant really find THE answer i need, i would like to know if any of you guy ever run 245/35/18 front tire on oem turbo twist on a 996 turbo I am interested in falken fk 453 and would like to run 245/35/18 front with 295/30/18 rear

By the falken spec, they only have 6 rev per mile of difference and the overall diameter is very very close

I'm lowered on h&r spring and have front camber plate with around -2 front camber

I would like to know i the 245 front will fit fine or rub somewhere

If you ever ride 245 front, please provide feedback vs 225 front, does the car tramline on highway, is the steering more or less responsive etc Thanks

 

Should work fine. Personally I'd go to a 245/40/18 and switch to a 295/35/18 rear but that's me. Little larger diameter for more contact patch and also fill the wheel wills a bit more.

 

I'm running stock sized FK453s and can endorse them for aggressive street use....they're a great tire for the money.

The Falken 245/35 is only 24.7" tall...thats a bit short to match up with stock 295/30s, isn't it?

 

Can't answer your question but I'm running oem size fk453's and like them better than my old Pzeros for what it's worth.

falken fk 453:

245/35/18: od = 24.7 ..............rev 837
225/40/18 od = 25.1 ..............rev 826

295/30/18: od = 24.9 ..............rev 832

so the difference is only .2 inch on overall diameter vs 295/30/18 and these are the falken spec, not the generic tire calculator.

245 vs 225 wont hurt the front diff since the od of front and rear is very very close,

i just want to know if i should stick to 225 or get 245 front

if someone can confirm that there are no rubbing anywhere with 245 and let me know feedback difference between 225 and 245 front, what are the positive side and downgrade side of running wider front

Diff wise you'll be fine. Like said though I'd look into 245/40 and 295/35. The extra sidewall gives you a little nicer ride and will have better traction. Also I think make the car look slightly better because they will the wheel wells better

 

245-40-18 and 295-35-18 isnt too tall, did you guys rub with these size, especially in front

 

Front might need a small spacer but no. Most guys on 19's run 245/35/19 (same size as a 245/40/18) and 305/30/19 (but larger than a 295/35/18)
Tire selection is also much better on those sizes

 

I have been running 245/40/18, Conti DW, fronts for many years now on stock rims. .. Rear is 295/35/18.
No problems rubbing.

Anyone have any updates on this?

On paper the 245/40-18 and 315/30-18 combo seem to be the perfect oversized tire setup for the 996TT, so I'm trying to figure out why it isn't a popular setup.

My main concern is rubbing, which some people claim rubs significantly, while others claim it doesn't rub at all. Wheels are stock twists FYI. I'd love to hear from anyone who runs this setup on the street. Thanks for any input you may have.

 

It is a popular setup though probably mostly for people who have 9/12 wheels. Rubbing depends on your suspension/alignment/ride height and effective wheel offset.

 

^ good point. on the 8.5 or 9" front either a 235/40 or a 245/40 can be run without issue.

which makes me wonder why the op isn't considering a 235/40/18 which is suitably wider than the 225/40 oem setup.

235/40 X 315/30/18 is a really good time honored set up, especially while running a 12" rear. point is, these tire sizes will fit the oem twists just fine

if i were you, i'd "split" the difference and just run a 235/40 in front regardless of whether or not you opt for a wider 315/30 in back.

 

Are you still RWD? Because that should be a consideration when choosing front and rear widths.

 

all that math re the revs per mile suggest an awd stock setup, no? as we all know, if you're awd?, then the rev per mile "differential" isn't as critical to the front differential lol. i have found that the best tire widths ( 225 VS 235 etc ) remain constant whether awd or rwd. it's really the wheel sizes that provide for the most difference in ride quality/handling etc. VS the minimal width differences of sizes that will properly fit on oem twists.
