OK, here is the part number I installed... 997-602-104-02

Maybe the -00 part number doesn't fit the same???

This might be a little offtopic to clear things out:::
This was my 3rd time I replaced sparkplugs. second time was helping a friend with his 996tt - first time i did this, (And maybe I'm wrong but i've seen people saying - it can be done without bumper removal - THAT is pretty much huge false. (If its possible , tell me ) from what i can tell, with shields and removing coils.

I purchased BOSH spark plugs from pelikan parts - same as coils - Never had any problem with bolts or fitting coils in. (by using old bolts) you can easily remove passenger spark plug shield, the driver side, you just have to move it around , depends which coils you pulling out.

I did not used any lock on the coil/bolts - because pretty much sparkplugs wont last more than 10-15k on tuned car. I cant even imagine when you track the
car - also sparkplugs and coil bolts i hand tight them. never use any power tools. you dont want to crack the coils/plastic

yes old design coils loved to crack, and we use 997s

this is the one i ordered:

http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/...02-104-00-M100

also When replacing original coils with updated design (997 602 104 02), longer hold down bolts will be necessary. Also use (Qty.) (2) 900 385 025 01 bolts (6 X 40 mm) for each coil.

maybe on my car i allready had different bolts

I've changed plugs 3 more like 4 times. never removed bumper.

i also never either had an issue with needing the longer bolts? i just ordered the 997 coils a few times, and i dunno.. just lucky i guess.

99760210400(Beru 0040100036) Installation is working without problems, Problem is just 99760210402(Beru 0040100178 ) where coil no.5 is clashing with the tube seen in the pic on page 1. would like to upgrade to the newer one but when there are really Problems with them I would go with the older ones. Clash with the pipe didnt happen during your Installation?

So, are the ones that are working older style or a more proper part number? Getting pretty confused...

Hopefully I can clarify. The newer, thicker (actually only the "tube" the mounting bolt slides through is thicker, the overall coil is same width) coils worked fine for all but #5. Refer to the part # thread for the exact numbers.

I'd agree on the need to change plugs frequently. I was on the fence about replacing them as they only had 20k, but they all looked pretty spent.

The ones pictured above are not the thick ones and should fit fine in all locations.

if you did that, without bumper removal. you need to do a short video and show me how, not like i dont trust you, but how did you wiggle the coils out, and took sparkplugs out

i would've thought/hoped that my now when i say (i), i am referring to my professional porsche mechanic and myself. so while i didn't technically change out the plugs i have sat there and opened beer and handed sockets and what not enough times ( at LEAST 3 if not FOUR ) to know for certain that bumper has never once been removed for plug or coil replacement.

so unless it's a light bulb/fuse/maf or air filter or some equally idiot proof replaceable part? when i say "I" changed it? it meant that i stood there and opened beer and handed sockets, opened oil bottles and asked generally stupid questions.

anyone here five minutes knows i'm not a "tech". but i do have the advantage of watching my clutch get replaced in under three hours while on a lift. it could be said i learn through osmosis.

btw.. this is a midget that has been working on ( mostly turbo ) porsche's for 20+ years. we joke i have put his kids thru college.

he crawls under cars a LOT. if it helps and i think of it ? i WILL shoot a short youtube for any non believers in the future. in fact, they're almost due. must be at least 7500 miles on em lol

*This* is how good auto techs make their money. Find ways to get the job done, not necessarily by following the manufacturers instructions. By not removing the bumper cover/intercoolers, he probably gets paid the full "book time", but can finish the job in 1-2hrs.

Personally, I'd probably be homeless if I tried to make wrenching my career...

That's true and most are good guys but I worked in a shop while in school and believe me some will hack away a engine attachment ear etc to change a part quickly.
