so..Im looking at coils and plugs and Os sensors. I am finding the same items with all different part numbers and now im so confused I don't know whats right.
Coils = from ECS 99760210400KT4
from pelican 997-602-104-02-M47
from another source = 97 602 104 00
another = 0 040 100 036
Then I see the new ones have longer bolt tabs. do I need new bolts?
I don't think the 'aftermarket' Beru/Bosch coils run the tall platform coils yet, Porsche only...a few months ago this was the case anyways (I use Beru coils)

On pelican it says they have all moved to the longer bolt. That's was for Porsche, Bosch, and beru.
997-602-104-00 is the part number for the original design with 15 mm long bolt tabs, (uses 6 X 25 mm hold down bolts). When replacing the original coils with the updated design (997 602 104 02 uses 31 mm long bolt tabs), longer hold down bolts will be necessary, which are 900-385-025-01 bolts (6 X 40 mm) for each coil. So, 997-602-104-02 if you want to go to the updated design. Let me know if you have any questions.

thank you for the clarification. I was under the impression the original 996T coils were not even available anymore. Is the 997-00 an updated coil but uses the original bolts? not sure what the point is of the longer bolt

According to our catalog, 997-602-104-00 is in stock, ready to ship and not currently NLA. I'm thinking the reason maybe you need a longer bolt for the new ones (997-602-104-02) is because of a new design of the bracket. Maybe something is thicker/longer at a point making it require a longer bolt so that it sits flush after install.
997# coils have been used for a longtime, and up to the latest revision have had the shorter mounts. The latest 'high' Porsche coil revision has been around for a fairly long time but in my experience the aftermarket producers either have massive inventories to sell-off first, or are continuing to produce the older style. Porsche will only sell you the new style, aftermarket sells whatever they can...old style is perfectly good.
+1, m6x25 to m6x40 bolts...worst case is the new-style coils come and you need to make a trip to hardware store or dealer
I have a set of Berus that I got from ECS very recently. I could measure the thickness of the tabs if that helps anyone.
Actually I just went out to look and my new ones are Bosch. I pulled one out of the box and they are stamped Bosch on top and they also have Beru on the side. You can barely see it in my pic below but it says Beru Germany.
Thickness of the tabs is about 15mm on the new ones I just got. Not sure if someone has an old coil they could measure to see if 15mm is the old thickness or the new thickness...

Lol, yeah its pretty crazy how many there are. I measured the total thickness of the housing is about 31mm so I don't think the tabs could be more than that...
(Please excuse the state of the art caliper, lol)
the reason there has been so many numbers is Porsche is continual trying to improve resistance to cracking...change every handful of years and you should not have any issues.
Any Porsche number is fine, buy away...if you happen to get the newest tall coils, buy m6x40mm bolts to match, done.
