Need a bit of help removing my cams.

I blew my motor about 2 years ago. I set the car aside as I have been working on other things. I am taking the whole thing apart and am considering building new or buying a motor. I bought a new block. Anyways, I am down to the cams, and I'm not sure how to get them off. The larger bracket next to the gears on the cam chain is stuck. I took the bolts out but it won't move. Am I supposed to take off the gears on the cams first and then some other hidden bolt or is the bracket supposed to come right off? Thanks.

Give Sean at Silly Rabbit Motorsport a call. He can help you figure it out and may have some ideas for tools you'll be needing. I wouldn't go any further until you've spoken to him or someone else experienced IMO. He's also going to be able to help you out with other stuff you might like including liners, studs, rods, pistons, bearings, and on and on.

theres a bolt in the front of each cam. DO NOT PRY ON THE CAM THRUST HOUSING! many do and it will break. these are machined as a set the main housing and all the caps

Thanks for the tip. I will remove the front bolts. I have worked with aluminum heads before so I know not to mess up the cam journals. I will have pics of the failed cyl and rod in a bit.
