TT Oil Useage

Was told by sales guy that the low mileage TT I am looking at will need about a quart of oil a month. Is this a break-in issue or just the way it is with the TT engine?

Seeing posts about bulk oil sales so the TT must be good for Mobil stock ;-)

It is a break in issue... I have had my car for about a month now, and I have put almost two quarts of oil in it.

My '02 Turbo has ~11k miles on it and it uses a quart every 1200-1500 miles around town. With lots of Interstate miles, I can get ~2000 miles between quarts.

I have put 1200 miles on my '03 since I bought it used and it hasn't used any oil.

I bought an '03 dealer demo TT X-50 with 5400 miles on it. I've put 450 miles on the car since, mostly city driving. It droped 2 segments on display (0.52 quart per owner's manual) I plan on adding some oil but don't know what grade Mobile 1 is in there. Is it OK to mix different viscosity grade as long as it's the same brand (Mobile 1) ?

What is in there is probably what Porsche recommends and dealers stock: Mobil 1 0W-40

Thanks.
I will call the dealer's service department tomorrow and confirm the grade before adding any oil. This is my first Turbo, actually first Porsche, and not used to having to add oil between routine oil changes.
I've had the car about a month now and just LOVE it so far.

It must be the Atlanta curse.
In what part of Atlanta do you live?

I don't think it's an Atlanta thing! Mine is in Hawaii and it comsumes around 1 qt per 1500 mi.

Be sure to keep in around the middle of the oil digital display. Too much oil not good for the engine.
