Carbon fiber mirror caps. Anybody used, opinions?

Hey guys. Saw these on eBay in my travels. Realize they are not full mirror replacements which are quite expensive but caps. Just wondering if anybody has tried them?

I wonder how they look on the other side especially on a light colored car.

dark color car hides it pretty well. The border shows on a light car and didn't like it.
The 3M adhesive provided is very strong and nice...lasted 2 years but it's coming apart now

Mine have been on for about 5 years. They still look great. Added more adhesive tape to make sure the covers did not come off.

I was going to paint the mirrors in matte black. IMHO the small accent of CF looked better.

Still debating whether to do the side intakes in matte black or CF.

that said i have a set of full replacement carbon mirrors for sale. They've been on the car but never driven so they're sorta new but used i guess since they've been installed
The fitment is not perfect. I had to grind a little but still....fitment not perfect. If CF was laid on top of oem housing, it would be perfect but these are not. I'm selling these because they are not perfect. You can see the gap in the pictures. UK brand. PM me if you want these.

Huh. It doesn't even look as bad as I'd pictured it looking from the backside - considering that there is not one pic I could find on the internet that shows them from that angle. I was thinking that it must look horrible

do those shells replace the painted part? How in the world do you take the mirrors apart? I had mine off to wrap and I never saw a way to split them, even though it looked like they could have

Disassembly is very easy. You remove the mirror and motor and, IIRC it is one screw. I'll see if I can get a pic or 2 up. My mirrors are still disassembled.

Those horrible looking CF caps belong on a Honda Civic, not on a Porsche!

To remove the mirror do you just pill it off? How many times does it break when you do that. Lol

3 screws, not one (brain f@rt - I had the housings in hand just the other day and saw the 3 bosses for the screws). But I found this - better than pics.

You do not even need to remove the motors. And yes, removing the mirror glass is a beach (says this in the vid too). I disassembled the mirrors at the body shop and all the guys working around me had the typical squinty-eyed glass-is-about-to-break expressions. LOL Managed to get both off without damage, though. But if you remove enough, I am sure you will break one sooner or later. Don't use tools - fingers only. And try to pull the glass from the middle as far as poss rather than just bending the edge.
