grussell, awesome car. The color, the wheels and indeed the model are perfect

The new GT2 wheel is beautiful but of course some lip is nice when you've got so wide wheels
About the looks, wide 18" wheels with a lowered suspension is REALLY nice look for a 996, especially for the widebody.
18" is for racing, 19" is for bling, in which side do you want to be?
(Nowadays when our eyes are familiar with big wheels in any car, of course the 19" seems to look better in 996....)

Anyway here's 18" Cargraphic Racing in our 996 Carrera:

And here's 18" Techart Daytona's in our 996 Turbo (the suspension will be installed after the winter):

evlgt2 is infamous around these parts
How about these?

Forgeline ZX3-R.

18.5lbs front 21lbs rear.

Overall, my favorite wheel has to be the Champion Mg wheels, but at $9K+ a set, I don't think they are worth the 1.5 lbs/wheel savings. Nice to look at though...

We just got a set of the BBS ALu (will take pix tonight) for a GT700 car and man let me tell you those things are so so light. They are 1/2 pound lighter than my MAGS even! They weight 19 in the front and 20 in the rear. This is GT2 sizes guys...

Champion does not make 12" wide wheels correct? I beleive the above Artic Silver Gt2 might have 11.5" wide wheels.

correct and you need to use spacers for the correct fit.
