After Market NON OEM Warranty Options (NOT thru DEALER)

I looked and looked and found nothing to help me. I am mostly looking for advice from those who actually purchased a NON OEM warranty AND NOT from the dealer.

I have had my 996T for a few years and decided to keep it. Someone suggested I buy an extended warranty NOT from the dealer and NOT an OEM.

The info I found on this forum related mostly to dealer purchased warranties or oem extended. I am looking for neither.

To cut to the chase:
JM&A warranties are only thru the dealer
Costco warranty is no longer available.

The one time I bought a non-OEM warranty (extended service) plan was from a dealer. The coverage was so limited as to render the coverage essentially uselss. And it was expensive -- even then -- to purchase.

I did a Google search for such plans and got some interesting hits. One was from a site that had reviews of such plans. I have no time to read/study these. But do a search and check out some of the more interesting links.

One thing, well, one of the things that I learned from my experience, is to check with SM and techs at the dealer, or the manager and techs at the shop, where you will take the car while the coverage is in effect and ask them of their experience with the company. How does it respond to claims for instance?

I have heard 2nd hand from the dealer SM and techs that invariably the warranty/extended service plan company "adjuster" will ask about a zillion questions seeking a legitimate reason to deny the claim.

So the SM or manager and techs can advise you which company which plan at least comes through when a legitimate claim is submitted.

From this then you have a lead to company to contact for coverage.

Another thing I learned is to get the actual contract, the one with the pages of fine print, and study this carefully. The warranty/extended service plan sales brochure all glossy and colorful is a nice sales tool, but may not reflect reality when it comes time to file a claim.

Most aftermarket service contracts have provisions that the manufactured date (or model year) of the vehicle be XX or newer. I do not know of any that will cover a car as old as the youngest 996TT.

Good luck, but I am not sure any option exists for what you are seeking.

i wouldnt agree with this. I have used Route66 in past on my BMW, they paid out over 8K in 1 year. Warranty cost me 2200.

I'm surprised you can EVEN GET a warranty for high performances cars that are over 5 years old, let alone our 6t. You should buy a 997t if you need a warranty. I would get one for those, based just on the spun cam issue that is possible, although maybe just an internet fear thing. Sites with people posting that nothing bad or unusual happened to their car today would be short lived.
BTW, nothing happened to my car today because I didn't drive it and that sucks.
