SRM K24+ and Sambydesign.. awesome combo
I never drove a K24/18G car so cannot comment. Compared to the stock k16s, it is a whole new experience. The stock K16s felt like you had a big block V8. The K24+ feel like you have a blown big block V8. When the power comes on, it pins you in the seat all the way until redline.
Are these the turbos with the 71mm wheel? Isn't a 18g around a 56mm wheel? Wouldn't that make these sort of comparable to a 20g where it trades spool for top end? I have the k24 billets, would it help me to convert them if I am not running race gas?
So the clip alows more exhaust to pass through at higher rpm thus balancing out the big 71mm wheel at the cost of increased lag. These turbos have to be a bit more laggy than 18g series with the benefit of a really high upside on high octane fuel.
71mm is the compressor exducer. Inducer is 50mm. 18g is 50.5/68mm wheel. Compressor design between the old cast 18g though and the billet 50/71mm used in seans turbos is much different. I'd guess that the compressor flows 25% more air than a cast 18g wheel would.
Actually the k24 wheel is already quite large in compared to a 71mm wheel but yes clipping helps increase flow out of the turbine wheel. The cutback allows gasses to exit the wheel quicker. It will cause a slight loss is spool but really very little. With the increased efficiency of the compressor wheel, it might still be faster than a standard k24/18g or 20g due to the less efficient design of the older mitsubishi compressor wheels.
Correct. The new billet 18G's are a little better that the original cast stuff. For sure the 71mm will move more air. More like a 20G billet I bet. K24's are clipped from the factory also to help with temps and flow on GT and track cars.
Another big factor is the cores or lack of them.

True 24 wheels are hard to get ahold of now days from anyone I know. If you can get them still those thay is a great option.
