SRM K24+ and Sambydesign.. awesome combo
SRM K24+ and Sambydesign.. awesome combo
Since the car is up and running, I'd figure I write about the project and my dealings with Sean at SRM and Sam (sambydesign).
My car had around 105k on it and after doing some maintenance on it, noticed oil in the intercooler pipes. A flush of the intercooler revealed more oily residue. After looking at the cost of rebuilding both turbos or upgrading, I figured upgrading was the best route. Here is where Steve (32krazy!) comes in. He is an invaluable resource, answered all my questions and pointed me in the direction of Sean at SRM. After talking things over, the K24+ was determined to be the best value as no core was required and would be ideal for future upgrades/increased boost. Sean had the turbos assembled and shipped to my door within a week, along with the modified oil tanks.
I also decided on a Cobb Accessport with cobb 1000cc injectors which were purchased from Sam. This package also included fine tuning with logs being sent to Sam. The package arrived within 3 days from Sam.
The injector install is something I don't wish on my worst enemy, but it was completed after many cut/scraped knuckles. One of the issues I ran into with removing the stock turbos was the vent line fitting. It was damn near frozen solid. It was eventually removed, but would not spin freely to reinstall. Instead of spending the money on stock parts, I figured going with AN fittings, pushloc hose and firejacket was easier and cheaper. Everything was sourced from pegasusautoracing.com (highly recommend for all your plumbing needs).
Every gasket/crush ring/exhaust stud and nut were replaced with all new hardware. Install went smoothly once the turbos were properly clocked/adjusted (Thanks to Sean and Sam for the advice via text).
A startup file was uploaded to the Cobb and loaded into the vehicle. The vehicle fired up after priming the turbos (fuel pump fuse pulled) and idled great. I've been driving it a bunch and logging pulls to send to Sam for fine tuning.
So far, driveability is amazing. The power comes on like a freight train and just keeps pulling and pulling. Its an enormous difference compared to the stock K16s. Here is a list of what was done to the car:
- K24+ turbos from SRM
- GT2RS intercoolers
- Cobb 1000cc injectors
- Cobb accessport
- Forge boost hoses
- Agency power exhaust
- Agency diverters
I could not be happier with the car. It is everything I wanted with very usable/reliable power. If you're having any doubts about dealing with Sam or Sean, do not hesitate. They are both great guys who run great businesses and make sure the customer is happy/satisfied.

I have the 764 pressure plate, GT2 disc and factory dmfw. As of right now at 1.2bar, it is holding fine. So far, no issues with the stock fuel pump and 1000cc injectors. I'm thinking if I go 1.4-1.5, I'll get the SRM fuel kit to be on the safe side.

1.2bar is the max you can go and already have done ots of testing with those turbos.
