is an OEM Bosch TB possible for $238.00?!

I have P0507 codes ( idle high etc ) and its not a vac leak, so the next obvious item is a faulty TB and since it was swapped out as a spare a few years back, I'm not gonna bother cleaning it, just gonna replace.

my question has to do with this pricing! $238.00 for a NEW(?) Bosch on Ebay?!

by chance has anyone ever bought this TB before? it's an eBay seller and they claim its a NEW Bosch ( which pelican lists for $1200.00+ Porsche OEM branded is $1300.00! ) so before i pull the trigger i just wondered if this pricing seems even feasible. i called them, they confirm it's a NEW OEM part.

the part number is correct ( its the same TB as in a 986 boxter ) part # 996-665-115-01

http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Genuine-OEM-Bosch-Throttle-Body-For-Porsche-911-Boxster-Cayenne-Cayman-/302122129346?fits=Make%3APorsche&hash=item4657e1d7 c2:g:EpsAAOSwal5YIjFt&vxp=mtr

any help/advice is appreciated. TIA.

yeah steve thx.., i recognize its the same part 986/996 but this "seller" part is listed as OEM NEW and they list the part as the 665-11501.

here's the bosch part confirmed as you say... # 986-605-115-01-M114. maybe this is the issue I'm having. but when i called they confirmed it was compatible and the 996/986 TB!

right brockster!? doesn't seem possible!? and why i'm asking lol.

now I'm "afraid" to take their word for it being correct". no way a new OEM is 238 while everyone else wants 1200! rats. ok, thanks..

here's their "compatibility" chart: notice it says OK for 2005 Turbo but no other 996 turbo is listed? that can't be right!?

how can i determine what part the 996-665-115-01 when it appears to require the 98660511501. this is the dilemma. thanks though....

Sounds like the perfect excuse to swap out the plenum with an SRM and 74mm TB upgrade

'02996ttx50 Mar 13, 2017 10:36 AM

I've already got the 68 ipd. happy camper.

now i need a new TB. i don't want the larger 74 as i prefer the mid range grunt.

this seems to be.. an eBay return/hassle waiting to happen. it can't be correct! so I'm gonna pass. "if it sounds too good to be true"?... lol

thx all.

Check to see if the vendor has a phone number you can call. I recently had to return a part i purchased for my 928 to an eBay vendors and it was a very pleasant experience.

See if you can find the part through them.

will do. in the meantime my pal is gonna bring a spare to swap in so i can be sure its the tb before i throw a new one at my issue. but better a 238 throw than 600-1200! but yeah, i'll ask them to confirm pre-ship ( they did confirm over the phone ! ) I'm just in disbelief mode being the "trusting" person that i am that a 628 ( cheapest i could find elsewhere..) part could really be the same at $238! plus its probably a pita to return sh*t to an eBay seller if necessary.

thx again.

( btw ) this IS the correct prt # 99660511501

no, never did. thought it was the tb, but turned out not to be. no issues since. only thing i learned again, is don't throw parts at a problem. since i didn't need a new tb. glad i waited.

I have got the same code recently, I did clean the throttle couple months ago, so may I ask what did you replaced finally? As I searched, it was fuel filter in your case as mention in another tread? Thanks.

are you sitting down? after all this back then.. it was the MAF! i didn't trust my EXPERT bud's advice.. so, before i threw a TB at my issue? i threw a bosch 124.00 at it. 1.3 steady since ;)

Oh I see, thanks for the reply.

I do have a spare MAF btw, it just acts up throwing P0102 maf code and then P1507 (I was confused on your P0507). Idle was not stable, car restarted, PSM ABS lights off and performs normal again, I am lost anyway.
